Any Update on New 600 AM Montreal ?

Was wondering if there's any new news about the new 600 AM coming to Montreal radio ? When do they assign the call letters for 600 AM ?

Nothing yet. Normally call letters would be requested during the application process, or shortly after approval. There haven't been any yet for this or any of the 3 stations. No other news yet either. Word is a late spring launch....and that's all we've heard. No date given. When they applied for their extension, they said they were "6 to 9 months away from launching."

Probably not until April or May. If any outdoor work has had to be done, this cold has prevented that from happening.

There is news, and it's good news. TTP Media has finally acquired the transmission site from Cogeco. A video was uploaded to youtube on October 13 by the company saying they had purchased it the previous week and what each station would broadcast and coverage area.

I guess we should hear more info from the media in the weeks ahead. Maybe info on programming and website will appear.

It's been a while since this thread has been updated, but some new information about AM 600 has surfaced.

-The station has been assigned the call sign CFQR, which was previously used by what is now CKBE-FM (92.5).
-As of yesterday June 21), a test tone was heard over an open carrier on 600. This was later replaced by the music feed from sister station CFNV 940, which temporarily went off the air.
-TTP Media, the owners of CFQR and CFNV, have until June 30 to get 600 on the air.
