Any word on what WIBR is going to do?

It's been a few weeks and still nothing new with WIBR. They really dont have any other choice accept to go Sports. They could really dominate the sports market if they were to do it right. 1210 AM is not that hard to beat. Have you heard some of the programming on there? They could get a few local shows and mix it with Fox Sports and maybe own the high school sports market in town and they can make some money. That night time signal is definately stronger than 1210's and they could get that PBS money or the Redemptorist money in a second. They could maybe lure some 1210 hosts over somehow..by some of them I mean Jimmy Ott or maybe the young kid on there. I think anything would be better than what 1210 is doing now. They have a few decent hosts but a very poor redheaded stepchild station. IT doesnt even have a voice for its station. WIBR needs to get on it and put the score down. Thoughts? How would you radio geniouses handle this situation? Who would you bring over? What national shows would you carry?

WIBR's tried all-sports before, calling itself "The Sports Animal." The beast didn't fly. Of course, Citadel didn't take it any more seriously then than it did when 'IBR was news/talk. No real money was put into promotion, and certainly none whatsoever into resources.

Right now, simulcasting with Q106 is costing Citadel nothing, and that's sure to give them the warm fuzzies.

note to the NAB..satellite radio..its worth paying for!!

Citadel is for sale and anytime that happens, the company must show the property is viable in the market. In this case, the only way to do that(in Corporate's eyes) was to blow everyone out and act as though the salaries were income. It happens all the time. Do not look for any change concerning format if it involves the expenditure of funds.

More than that, Citadel is trying to make more money because they are charging more for the ads since it is on two stations.
______________

In that case, you're better off, at least, making it pay-for-play, and at worst, taking the station dark and walking the license back to Washington -- a losing network and no local content means no listeners or ad dollars.
