Has WZYP found someone to put in the 7pm to midnight slot to replace Dereck Hayes? It's sad not hearing a live dj during that time slot, or any dj at all. At least WZYP still has the out of line top 5 at 9, allbeit done jockless.
 
Well Derrick is a good friend of mine and I hate that he got cut.

Regretfully in the radio business budget cuts are something we have to deal with my friend. I think D will be ok though he is very talented and he is a team player.

I don't think ZYP will replace him with a live jock anytime soon but if they do whoever gets it is walking into a good gig.

I talked to the PD over there and he seems to have the station moving in the right direction.
 
It would be very sad to see a syndicated/voice-tracked show on nights at ZYP. I, along with many others, cut my teeth on the air in Athens.

I seriously don't see Jeff staying in that spot he is the PD and most PD's do mornings or afternoons.

But I will keep an eye out like I said the nights on ZYP is a great gig
 
If they are rolling jockless that's pathetic on a station as legendary as ZYP. Especially when they have a potential night guy in house, Dylan Paul, if even temp until a new guy is found.

I'm sure Karson can even back me up on this one since Dylan worked for him in Memphis.
 
That completely slipped my mind, that Dylan was there. That would be a great fit plus he's a hometown boy, sorta. I still call him Die-lon as that's what some artist kept calling on the air during an interview. I think the artist had a reggae thing going.

Yeah Dylan would be a good fit for the market here. I wouldn't mind going back to CHR myself ZYP is a great station and I'm sure they will keep that in mind

when and if they decide to go Live again.
 
Are you talking about the same Dylan that is filling in for Mecca muzik...no idea how she spells that name. He is the worst I have ever heard, I thought he was a college or HS kid filling in for free or something. I pray Mecca comes back or they get a professional news person soon. You are blowing my mind if it is the same person that I hear doing the news on WVNN in the afternoons, ouch.
 
Yes, I believe that's the same guy. I have not heard him doing the news but I know he was a night jock with solid vocal quality and talent. I took a temporary news gig recently and I can tell you from experience, it's very difficult. Big, maybe you can apply for the gig and perform at a higher level?

I love ridiculous posts like this that say "it was the WORST I ever heard" without backing it up.

- instead of saying only negative things, would you like to suggest how he could do better in your opinion? Keep in mind he is new and only been at the news thing a few weeks.
- I give credit to a CHR guy who's trying to expand his radio talent by trying other areas like news. Where else is he going to learn? I also give credit to whomever at WVNN gave him the shot.
- Be lucky you at least have a LOCAL news guy. While WVNN is a well respected news station, you are NOT a top 100 market and so I'm surprised they have local news people at all.
- Did you ever think of contacting Dylan directly through e-mail and suggesting some things rather than blasting him publically?
- Oh and this thread was about WZYP, you started trashing Dylan's news talent and we were talking his CHR talents. DO your homework, he is one of the best night talents in the country. (A little A.D.D. and a Jager addiction but who the hell in radio doesn't have that, lol)

Thank you for the post Big Momma but this business needs positive feedback these days, not negative.
