Anybody awake? Big changes may be (probably are?) coming to Hartford!

Wow, I've been waiting for someone to post something about CBS's plan to sell 50 stations in mid-sized markets. These days, Hartford's one of their smallest markets, thanks to population stagnation in Connecticut.

I thought the odds were low they'd sell in Hartford, since they so totally dominate the scene. But I started thinking about it, and Hartford hasn't been a growth market in a long time, and there's nothing on the horizon to suggest it will be, so now I wonder.

What do you think? I realize this isn't about DXing or pirate stations, but somebody oughtta care!

I for one, care .CBS radio is about the only large radio operator left that seems to care and make money with AM radio.
WTIC 1080 is the only AM station left in Connecticut that has live local top of the hour news M-F 5am-12am and all weekend too.
Live local talk 10-1/2 hours a day .Plus about half the weekend is live local talk.Yes there are other AM stations that have some local programing But not the same commitment to local news.Buckleys Talk of Ct. has local news in morning and afternoon drive WICC
same thing WELI? forgettaboutit.I am sure WTIC is making money because of their sports programing .Red sox ,Huskies football.mens & womens
basketball.WTIC is always one or two in the 12+ ratings. So if CBS radio sells the Hartford cluster who would like to see take over?
Clear channel is about the worst for having local programing
Cox radio same thing .Atlanta & Orlando have local morning shows & syndication the rest of the day.
Cumulus does ok with WICC Live, local m-f 6am to 7pm .But USA network radio news in some day parts ugh!
Citadel broadcasting I don't think there buying right now after buying ABC radio. Maybe a swap?
Entercom has many medium market stations.
Any thoughts?

DToTheJ, didn't see that. Must've been the ultra-clear subject line.

I'm still surprised more people are interested in New Haven AM stations than CBS selling the biggest radio group in CT.

I'm with Albertoco2000. Not sure who's out there who would invest the way CBS did. Entercom is the best bet, but they're not doing too well right now.

What a ridiculous subject line. There is no proof at all to suggest CBS has even considered selling their stations in the Hartford market. There is no evident point to this thread.
