Anybody Else Have XM "Customer Care" Horror Stories?

Recently traded-in my XM-equipped car for a new model, also XM-equipped with three months free service for XM Radio, NavTraffic and NavWeather. A week after taking delivery, I called XM Customer Care [XMCC] seeking to have the remaining 18 months on the old subscription transferred to the new vehicle at the end of the trial period. The resulting clusterf*ck is just unbelievable. First the traffic/weather became deactivated. After several attempts both were reactivated but only for a few hours. NavTraffic still not working. I then received a REFUND CHECK for the unused XM balance from my old car rather than transferring. When I called XMCC, I was told by the "third world wonder" answering the phone they were unable to extend my trial subscription now because a check had been issued. Guess who will be calling XM HQ in DC Monday? Can anybody come close or top this?

PS - The "Sirius-ization" of the XM channels absolutely sucks. Those NY radio has-beens who've been dumped onto the decades channels don't get it. It's not about them. It's about the music and the audience, stupid! No wonder the Sirius/XM stock is trading the little more than a dime. Anybody else hear the death knell?

I've actually been fairly quiet ;) since the merger last month, but when i saw this post, i felt i had to come in here and say something -- i am from New York City (Brooklyn native, born and bred) 8) and those "has-beens", as you put it, are ANYTHING but - they ARE industry guys who are kicking butt - whether it's on terrestrial (NY) radio or Sirius-XM, SO WHAT!! they are vital and alive and make it real and provide an essential connection, a lift if you want to call it that -- it was such a blast having Ron Parker join "70's on 7" this year - a REAL New Yorker who KNOWS it and SHOWS it! -- as well as getting to hear NY radio veteran Rick Stacey on "80's on 8" -- we in New York get to hear him EVERY Saturday from 2 to 7PM.... 8) 8)

Thank you for proving my point. They are NY radio folks. They come off as phony and self-absorbed. Sirius/XM is a NATIONAL service, and should be programmed for a universal appeal, not just New York. This act doesn't play outside the "Big Apple."

If all these "New York Guys" are so great at doing radio you would think they would know when to shut the heck up and leave the corny jokes at home. With all due respect to you AJS.

Really? So much to learn? Such as what? Like how to laugh at 50 year old jokes? Cause that's what these so called "New York Jock Straps Sound Like."

Considering the demographics of these channels. They're not exactly going for 20-somethings here. Many of these guys are jocks that people all over the country (thanks to AM radio being what it was/is) grew up listening to. The stations are supposed to sound like the stations in their respective decades did so, naturally, this is the right thing to do. I think it's neat. Not my favorite kind of radio but it's fun nonetheless.

P.S. I have several years of radio under my belt... I may not know it all but I did pick up a think or two, enough to know that these guys are doing it right anyway.

To answer the original question about horror stories when calling customer service.........I try not to do it. I've never been able to talk with someone who could speak English well and I find it hard to communicate with them. I did tell them the last time I called, which was several months ago, that if they didn't improve I was going to drop them like 3rd period French, but I don't think the person I talked with appreciated my attempt at humor. I tried emailing them about an issue, waited 8 days for an answer, and then the email didn't even answer the question.. I think customer service EVERYWHERE is getting terrible, and long before this economy went South. I used to get through to my cell phone carrier in 3 minutes; not it takes 45 minutes. Calling an electronics store is nearly impossible, any time of the year. I do think Best Buy is especially bad at that. I hope as business's realize that their survival is at stake, maybe they will also realize that improved customer service may help them keep customers. Well, at least we can hope, right?

Merry Christmas to all of you!

I Cant Even Go on to - XM SHOP - It Tells Me That They Cant Validate My Account At THIS TIME - ITS BEEN LIKE THAT FOR AT LEAST A MONTH!!!

AND THERE CUSTOMER SERVICE (XM) IS LIKE THE PERSON B4 ME SAID IS ALL FOREIGN !! & F-ING TERRIBLE

IF ANY1 HAS A SOLUTION TO MY PROBLEM PLEASE POST IT !

THANKS AND HAVE A HAPPY & SAFE HOLIDAY & NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!

Heyyofan

Wanted to provide an update on my XM Customer Care experience: Today, I received a bill from XM for the three months of NavWeather and NavTraffic that were supposed to be FREE with the purchase of my new car. For those of you keeping score, since December 7, here's what XMCC has done: Deactivated the NavTraffic, and has been unable to successfully reactivate it on a continuing basis; Sent me a refund for the unused portion of my subscription on my old car, and refused to void the check instead of applying the balance to the end of my free XM trial; called me at my office on Sunday to follow-up on my earlier calls to XMCC even though I had given them my home and cell numbers; and now wants me to pay for my free trial. These fools make the Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight look like altar boys! How pathetic.

I get it too Andrea, If I wanted just wall to wall music I have more than enough on my iPod. I like these guys. They have added life to the channels they are on. I'm very glad they stopped the Wolfman Jack tapes in favor of jocks who are still alive.
