On Sanibel Island I can get two oldies stations here, 1070 am and 1480 am. Not wild about 1070 but like 1480 on Marco Island. Does anybody know what's happened to that station? It was broadcasting news mornings then the True Oldies afterword. Now it's strange. It will play a song and a commercial will cut in for a few seconds. The local news I heard is from a month ago and repeated again and again. The weather is weeks old. Last Saturday they ran all talk programs in the morning. Some old woman talking about fishing in California. Other times they go dead air for four or five minutes. What gives? Format change? Anybody?
 
Went down 75 over to Miami and back. Heard 1480 and 1660 near Naples. 1480 was a train wreck. Heard no modulation for four or five minutes both ways. 1660 was over modulated, blury. Whose the boss there?
 
Made a quick trip to Southseas Plantation and went to naples to see a friend. 1480 was just a mess..like nobody was paying ANY attention to it. Somebody must be paying the light bill. Not really a very good signal, but I heard the "fishing lady" as mentioned before..She was talking about some kind of vitamins from fish, but in the middle of that it went "BURP" and on came Don't Sleep in the Subway by Petula Clark, followed by Kiss Rock and Roll All Night, followed by the second half of some weird Bobby Vinton song I never heard of, then about 12 sec of a commercial for debt relief, then dead air for about 3 min, then the fish lady again for only about 15 sec..WVOI MArco Island was the ID and it was buried in the middle of all this..Embarrassing
 
Read on a another board they dumped the staff brought in new manager, somebody named Scott, hot shot from Chicago to run 1480, 1660 and 1410. Now 1660 and 1410 are dropping out. If this is the way they do it in Chi town leave me out.
 
This morning 1480 was all music no news. I like the music but it's a shame to loose local coverage even if it is just Marco Island. Now the sister station, WMYR, is nothing but Wisconsin news and weather. This is supposed to be better than before? Time to hire some professionals to run this outfit.
