Anybody notice the jocks are off The Bone's website? Foreshadowing?

Also just noticed that if you open their streaming audio it says "The New 93.3 FM" then "The Bone Rocks Harder" Hmm....

They also fired my girl Channing. I was listening this morning, and they were talking about "Flushing the format" at 3pm tomorrow, and then they mentioned, "Rock without rules". ???

Channing gone? She just got there! She is a damn good talent.

Looks like they're keeping the Bone nickname.... new slogan: "The Rock Of Texas".

I imagine they didn't want to change to much since the name "The Bone" was mentioned so often in the Cowboys announcements. It looks as if they will try to put a fresh look (new logo, new colors, new slogan, and new talent) to the station and roll it out to coinside with the up coming Cowboys season.

The Bone is just another classic rock station, whcih means .... well, you know what that means ......Speaking of "Rock Jocks" ..... you definitely expect the playlist to become even more banal, as Jocks who listen to Rock are catered to, with the Cowboys's games tie-in....(I'm not referring to all the jocks with good musical tastes.... just those many dumb or simple-minded "jocks" that are all to happy to hear "Sweet Home Alabama", "Bad To The Bone", and "Freebird"..... and then know that this is a really "cool" station Rock that Matters..... Not Happenin' in Dallas-Ft. Worth ! ! ! ! ! !

okay, here's a question for ya- if it's just the simple minded who like Freebid, etc, and you seem to be saying that those people don't have good musical taste- what does constitute good music? What WOULD make a 'cool' radio station? Or are you just lamenting the fact that you are so much cooler and smarter than the average listener, and you, "Mr Cool and Hip" have to put up with this crappy music that the dumb-ass masses like?

Three Simple Words: Deep Album Cuts

A good rock station is one that can play classic rock and modern inthe same format...ZZ-Top to P.O.D...For a time The bone was getting it .. called Bone newborns...I recall the PD at 105 doing something like this on Saturdays when the Talk was all talked out . Was his name Bob ? I forget. The folks a Cucumber broadcasting have scrapped the conceptand drug the bone back to another Classic Rock knockoff..Say what you will about the man..I do want to give Scott Strong some credit for making a wholehearted atempt at giving listeners what they want. and askingwhat can we do to make us a better station ?That is just unheared of in corparate radio..Will someone please put KZEW back on the air ! ..lolCaptinRon, Weatherford

2 words: Sh*tty ratings.
And yeah, Scott tried to give the Bone listeners what they wanted, and tried to play some deeper cuts. And the ratings suffered for it. And if a good station would play POD and ZZ top, why are there so few stations around the country trying to do that? Why do so many stations pick either classic rock or "active rock' or 'alternative' or hard rock" or whatever, and not mix the 2? Could it be that because you're average ZZ top fan doesn't wnat to listen to POD? That You average Skynrd fan isn't also a fan of "Lamb of God"? Easy to sit back and say a good station would mix the 2. A lot harder to find it being carried out. Especially being carried out succesfully. But don't let a little thing like reality worry y'alls pretty little heads...

Oh that's a big steaming load. Scott didn't have a clue as to what he was doing, THAT is why the ratings suffered. Firing and / or losing all of the decent air talent he had due to his incompetence, THAT is why the ratings suffered. Turning the station into Jeff K's personal jukebox with no real idea, or direction, was what made the ratings suffer. Not listening to the listeners, THAT is why the ratings suffered. There's a lot of reasons why thye ratings suffered, and they all ultimately go back to Scott's mismanagement and arrogance.

actually, i would think Jeff K's personal jukebox would be a better version of the old KDL and have nothing to do with classic dick rock.

Name the air talent he lost due to his incompetence. And prove to all of us that they were lost due to his incompetence. I'm sure with such sweepeing statements you have evidence to back this up, and that you're not just talking out your ass. You're NOT just talking out your ass, are you? And didn't Jeff due a 'mix' show late Saturday nights back in the Merge days? Didn;t he produce some albums of that stuff? I agree with the previous comment, I would put money that Jeff K's personal jukebox would be a lot more old "Edge" than anything else...

He did a show on late saturday nights, then moved to sundays at 8. I also agree, a possible move back to a "merge" format would be better than what they have now.

Hey Radiomen Here's an offer for you!

Everybody else on the site wants to talk radio. You have some anger that keeps you from having interesting conversations. So people don't have to hear about me or your vent up frustration, I have an offer for you.I will donate $50 in cash to your favorite cause if you say your real name on the site and we set a time to meet, maybe a Friday at a "Bone Party" so other memebers can come and we see why you are so mean and unfocused. How's that offer sound? $50 to your favorite cause. It would be worth it to get you happy again and have MS or Big Brothers or whoever you want to get a positive from all this.

I wholeheartedly believe if Jeff K was really programming from his personal jukebox it would be a slam dunk of a station. Have you ever talked to him? Been to his website? Know his history? Not only does the guy know music, he knows GOOD music.

I actually think Jeff, if given a decent shot without too much interference from "middle managment" or a go-between, could program a station that would pull numbers without incident. I hope he gets that shot with the new managment when they take over.

Maybe there are too few of people like me as for as music..I'v always been opened minded about new stuff. I just thoughtthat the format mix was an all around good idea and still favor that kind of mix with my classic .Didn't mean to make everyone mental, Go easy me..lolThe bone filled the gap a few years after KTXQ went poof.I was very impresssed what the station management keptthe MERGE crew after the flip (not counting Tim Roberts)some made the transition , some went to greener pasture.I did miss Cool rock smart pop. It was a good mix of modernAlt, with mature jocks..The bigest problem at 93.3 has always been a pour signal andno legal way to boost the watts over 50,000.Out here in Weatherford you have to put up a big stick just toget stereo and thats with a good tuner..No telling what Cucumber will do with it now...Ron Clark , Weatherford, Tx
