Anybody realize that Opie and Anthony are now gone from Providence?

I wouldn't think that they ever really fit in with all-sports listeners, anyway. I think that making them The Score morning show was the beginning of the end.
 
OT, but Mark I was going to respond with "you've got mail" but I don't think you have. I got some sort of MAILER DAEMON-USER UNKNOWN message so that function may not be working. The answer is "yes" & I ain't talkin' beyond that but you still sound like you're at the top of your game.

Same thing happened with the other guy I heard from who will probably read this, but that answer is "nope".
 
It'll be interesting to hear what O & A have to say about being dropped from Providence tomorrow - they were a fan of the SCORE PD and listeners are they discussed on the air a frequent number of times.
 
The score did frequently cut their show off early, so it was pretty obvious that they did not like having to air O&A. I am a fan of the show, so I'm disappointed that they're losing another affiliate.

They recently got promoted to mornings in Cleveland! 8)

Great! It will be the shortest promotion ever when CBS doesn't renew their contract this spring.

And replace them with--what? O and As NYC station is pretty much running on auto pilot..I'm not sure CBS has anybody around to blow them out, unless Dan Mason does it himself..

Their battle in Cleveland is going to be entertaining..CBS' former morning show in that market went to WMMS where they take over mornings next month..displacing Bob and Tom to middays, with Maxwell (with Boston Radio roots, or so I'm told) doing PM Drive..O and As Cleveland station is pretty much the remaining rock station in the market..
 
Well they are losing markets like crazy. There arn't many left. K-rock PD hasn't been happy with them either and it's been rumored for a while that their contract will not be renewed. So we'll have to see what happens in the crazy world of radio.

K Rock's PD was let go with the last round of CBS Radio cuts about a month ago. There were rumors a couple weeks ago that they were about to sign a new deal with CBS. We get it, you don't like the show!

I thought I heard something about the PD being let go. I wasn't sure though. Besides... my post has nothing to do with my particular feeling towards the show. I'm just pointing out that from the last I knew, those guys were almost out the door. If things have changed, I wasn't aware. I can take them or leave them.
 
I like Opie and Anthony but their type of show seems to be one that program directors aren't fans of. Maybe because they frequently don't listen to PD's creative suggestions. However, I don't see where this big need to syndicate Don Imus came from.

Listen Brain. Who are you? Are you Opie or are you Anthony? I just told you guys that I can take them or leave them. I'm quite indifferent towards O & A. Even though I'm an admitted Stern fan, I don't have hatred for O & A. I've listened before and I don't hear anything that I truly hate. As a matter of fact, a pretty good interview with Donald Trump sticks out in my mind.

But let's face it. O & A arn't the most original guys. I remember Anthony when he showed up at Stern's studio one day. I think it may have even been the same day that I was there for a Halloween Costume contest that was aired back in 1994! Also aired on cable channel E! Anthony was at a tiny little station on Long Island at the time. He was such a big fan of Stern's that he came down to meet Howard and praise him. I still have the Videotape if you care to see it.

Bottom line is that I'm very familiar with their history and I honestly couldn't give a care in the world weather they are on the air or not. It doesn't make a difference to me either way. My whole point is that they are losing affiliates and they are losing them fast. Don't get mad at me just because your Boys are failing. It's not my fault.
