Just for grins, if you have some time, or if you are not in the business and want a peek and see at some of the techno jargon/ administrative stuff that has to do with station operation and license renewal, there is a FCC website with a checklist for AM stations pre license renewal review that you are supposed to send in with the renewal

This document pretty much lays out everything a radio station is supposed to do in the eyes of the FCC ( did you know EAS alerts are supposed to be done in the primary language of the station? I didn't).

This is the checklist that seems to get more than a few stations handed a 4000 dollar N.A.L. because a wrong answer on the form ( say failure to maintain a public inspection file for example) gets you nailed.

It is a handy reference guide, not only for quick answers ( like how much power over the licensed amount is allowed) but it has links to all the part 75 chapter and verses for the actual text of the regs.
