Anyone Doing Fundraisers In Arkansas?

C

CityBoy

Guest
Traveled through NWA and Little Rock today and was listening. CHR has gotten better in both markets along with country but was wondering who was doing any fundraising for the relief and if there are any cool things going on?

I heard the CC stations doing some storm aid thing which seems to be cluster wide and same in all the companies clusters. 105.7 was doing pay for play and playing any format music for some dollar amount. Anyone I'm missing?

Hey Real Deal...I take exception to that statement!!! We are working on a benefit concert for the 17th....another huge deal for the end of October...We are helping any and all local agencies that are doing relief work, such as Grace Community Church, The Fort Smith Emergency Relief Task Force, The Red Cross, The Salvation Army and others. Our web site is directing listeners to donate online or by calling... here is our link: www.thex953.com
We're cookin' alright...but it's not meth! I'm going to stop here before I say something I might (or might not) regret!!!

> the three harrison stations had a two day fundraiser thursday and friday...raised over $15,600 in cash for gas for the trucks and the red cross and over $70,000 in relief supplies for the hurricane relief.
troy walker from khoz...gary campbell...russ o'neal...and tom arnold from kcwd...all we there....troy and gary for all hours....a great response from the local community.....

Jonesboro

Jonesboro, AR – Clear Channel Radio-Jonesboro recently conducted Operation Open Door to urge listeners to help those devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The group hopes to supply shelters with water, food and hygienic supplies for refugee families who arrive in Jonesboro and northeast Arkansas.

Little Rock

Last week was one of those times where I was most proud to be a part of the industry that we are a part of. It was not a contest to see who could raise the most money or send the most trucks to the Gulf...and for those media types that made it one -- shame on them. I know that members of the Citadel and Clear Channel teams communicated throughout the day on Friday to make sure that all donations got to people in need. I also saw a member of the Signal staff come by at the end of the day on Friday to see if he could drop off items at Citadel's drop point at War Memorial.

In a world of radio when 99% of the time we are trying to one-up the other station (and we should -- it IS a business after all) it was nice to see all of that put aside for a few days for the greater good.
