Anyone else not like B97.5's new musical direction?

As someone once said on a post that no one person at SC makes the decision on what stations do, also the music is OK but they need to add some personality to it and have fun.

I worked with Jarnigan many years ago and he's a good programmer and an even better programmer when he's following solid research. He knows Knoxville and he happens to be the pd...YOU are not BRH.

Yep, that solid research and knowledge of Knoxville led to B97.5's worst book in a couple of years. The books and trends were certainly better in the past before the move towards the more gold based format. That is a reality and all you have to do is look at the numbers.
Also, apparently I'm not the only one noticing the falling numbers as I've noticed in the past few weeks, B97.5 seems to have been backing off a bit from the gold cuts. They seem to be sounding a bit more current and "AC like" again, and they are even playing some currents during the Flashback Weekends now too. Maybe that "solid research" involved cracking open the latest arb books.
And as far as the "he happens to be the PD and YOU are not" comment. OOOOO!!!, You really showed me didn't you. Please! Get off your high horse. This forum is full of people commenting on what they do and don't like about radio stations in various markets. What? Are we not allowed to have personal opinions anymore? I guess we should just all be happy and satisfied with whatever we get since us lowly listeners and fans are NOT the PD. Yeah, that "PD knows it all" attitude, and "we should be happy with what we get", is exactly why the younger generations have abandoned radio in droves for Ipods, internet streams, and satellite radio. And honestly, I'm one of them. I used to work in the business, and I used to be a total radio geek (airchecking, posting online constantly, and keeping up with all the changes). But I don't post that much anymore because I really don't listen to local radio that much. I have both Sirius and XM and with high speed internet streams and podcasts, I find myself spending the majority of my time with them. I do listen a bit occasionally to keep an ear on things, but local radio certainly isn't my biggest passion anymore as far as media goes.
Oh well, sorry for the off topic ramble, but as far as B97.5's format goes; the numbers don't lie and they have steadily trended down since the gold based stuff was added. So I still think it was a mistake. That's my opinion (and no I'm not the PD, nor do I claim to be, and wouldn't want the job if it was offered!)

I've noticed too and I've gone back to not being a B-97.5 listener again. But then again, I'm not in their target demo so I'm sure they don't care. For those who like the classic hits, check out 106.3 "The Mountain" from Sevier County. It's sounding really good.

That's ironic, because just about a year ago, someone had a Pirate Station broadcasting on 106.3 up in the Seymour area.

I haven't heard it back on since January. They must have gotten word that this new station was starting up and they fled the airwaves.

I kind of wonder if this new station at 106.3 up in Sevierville might be owned by the same people who own WSEV.

I remember the 106.3 pirate, but I thought they were further up, like in to South Knoxville. I think I heard them best around Wal-Mart on Chapman Highway. I remember them playing '80s music. But you're right they have been gone for nearly a year.

But yes, "The Mountain" is owned and operated by East Tennessee Radio.

They might have been in South Knoxville. I heard them around Walmart on Chapman Highway up through Seymour also. Whoever it was, I also remember them playing alot of obscured 80's stuff that you don't hear anymore. There was also another Pirate at 104.1 around the same time in that same area playing the same type of format. It was probably the same guy I would guess. He probably just switched frequencies.

I thought the new station up in Sevierville was probably owned by the folks who own WSEV.
