ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH AN EICO MODEL 666 VACUUM TUBE TESTER?

I picked up a used one at an antique store & it says in the instructions to hold down the "line" button while turning up the "line adjust"(power) pot. The meter's supposed to be adjusted that way? The meter doesn't move at all when I do that...but I leave the "line adjust" pot up to 105 when I'm testing tubes & it seems to be working okay...is something wrong with it? Maybe the 666 has something to do with it. :D Thanks

you are suposed to hold down the 'line' button and adjust the pot so the meter reads '100'

this is to compensate for varying line voltage

So if the meter doesn't move at all when doing it the tester is malfunctioning? When I adjust all the pots & levers & push the "merit" button it does move then, but I guess it's in accurate huh?

Thanks...it seems to be working good. I tested a couple old RCA Radiotron 57s & they lit up like light bulbs so I hurried up & killed the power thinking they may have blown up.

Be sure to set ALL the knobs and switches to the correct position for the tube being tested BEFORE inserting the tube in the test socket, if the tester is not set up right you may blow the tube!

Believe me I double check...for some reason these old 57's were very sensitive & got way too bright real quick...unless that's what these kind are supposed to do. Then there's the kind for example, like tube "80". There are 2 different "80"'s on the chart (not 80A) or anything to determine a difference, so that's still a mystery on which one to set it up for. ???
