Anyone getting XM for free?

I ordered the service in Aug of 2005 Lady on phone tried to take my info after she kept putting me on hold several times because she was so busy playing around with other reps (Laughing Joking ect..) I coundn't understand her because she was laughing so hard. Took my radio ID only no address no phone # no Credit Card info told me to enjoy the service and if I had any problems to give them a call back. OHH OK!Well after a month I thought I'd better make this right so I called to do that, The rep told me they have no info on my receiver I told him I joined in Aug and again he said Sir, We have no record of this radio ID and then told me if I'm getting it for free to enjoy it So XM Free since Aug 2005

I guess this free XM service problem is widespread. I wish I got in on this great deal ! If everyone that received XM actually paid for it then maybe they wouldn't have such a MA$$IVE debt. No offense to anyone out there. I'm just envious. It's XM's customer service problem. I wonder if Sirius has a similiar problem ?THE MAJOR

OMG I have the same experience... I have sirius in my Bonneville and back in December, my Bonneville went out of commission, so I decided to go back to listening to terrestrial radio in my other vehicle and I called Sirius and asked them to deactivate the radio, they asked for my ID number, I gave them, she told me it would be deactivated right then. It's May and when I went out to my Bonne and turned it over, my Sirius is still on, playing all the channels.... This is cool

After reading this thread I went home, dug out my old Sony receiver which has been sitting in the box for almost two years now(I upgraded to the SkyFi ), hooked it up (home set up), and to my surprise it works!!!!

Not anymore.............Had the old Sony on this weekend, It was fine for an hour then it starting flashing...UPDATING... now it it is done.....Only CH1, the emergency Ch. and one other Ch. works. Some large update went out?? My SKY FI took a while saving the update when I powered it down. This was Saturday around noon edt. It's like XM read this thread and decided to send out a 'kill' command to receivers not registered.

Not out of the question. I wouldn't be surprised if someone "blew the whistle".

I have to tell you this story. I have been an XM subscriber for over a year now. Last summer I tried to prepay my XM sirvess and the person taking down my info apparently wasn’t paying attention. Tow months went by then I got a call from an XM Rep. They told me that they haven’t been getting any payments from me for a while. I also got a few letters in the mail. I was highly upset. I called XM and they told me that someone didn’t push some button on the software they were using to get my information updated. They told me that the signal might be dead for about five or ten minutes. But I turned on the radio after I got off the phone and it was working. Maybe I should have keep the folks at XM calling me to see how long they would give me the free sirviouss.
