Anyone got the skinny what will the new format be on 104.3 huh huh huh???

They are running promos that way fm is only on 105.9 so we will be getting a new format ;D

When they signed on in 1998 they were hip hop hot 104 "home of the new flava" which i liked then they flipped to classic country which could have been a success if radio one knew what they were doing(see 103.9)pretty good numbers. Then they were the fake fake lrs.The fake lrs was on 105.1 so 104.3 was the fake fake lrs. Then they were way fm now what will they become???

I say flip it to a commercial alt like philly has at radio 104.5 but we shall see.

So i ask again anyone got the skinny???

Please god not an 80s station!!!Nothing old or classic we do not need an 80s station the format is way to dated!!!And trhe 80s station we had was terrible and god awful!!!Poorly programmed!!!

Patrick, are you saying that WRVI is running promos saying that WAY-FM will not be heard on 104.3? The reason I ask is that the on air presentation has only been "Louisville's 105.9 WAY-FM" for nearly the entire run of the simulcast. Jettisoning 104.3 also seems to be an odd move given the Indiana-centric group of sponsors and events WAY-FM produces.

Something is afoot. They changed the call letters yesterday to WWPW. Could it wind up back in the hands of New Albany Broadcasting?

The more things change the more they stay the same. I guess B-96 will now have competition just to bad they can't do a local morning show we already have russ parr.

Did R1 enter the Louisville market again or is the station owned by someone else?

Someone else. After Radio One totally botched it here, I doubt very seriously they would have the stones to come back.

They are going back to the format they were except they will be power not hot.Is it a god idea since radio one flipped formats. Will it work another hip hop station?I believe radio one bought 104.3 and flipped it so it wouldn't harm B-96

Time will tell.

I wish them good luck going against the B.

On the front page of RI:

As of tonight, Louisville will have a new urban outlet at 104.3 – WWPW. I checked in with Chuck Atkins who is overseeing the project for owner Rene Moore (of the ‘80s singing duo Rene & Angela), who tells me, “There’s more than enough room in this market for an aggressive, focused, Hip Hop and R&B station with an open door to the community. The Beat will be completely accessible to local artists, promoters and community leaders.” The station will feature the syndicated Rickey Smiley in the mornings, radio vet Terry Fox midday, Shawn Blaze in PM Drive and DJ Kaos and Silly Azz will hold down nights together. Up until recently, the signal was simulcast with Christian Rock WRVI (105.9). WWPW is licensed to Charlestown, Indiana, and covers the area north of Louisville.

That signal is horrible. Can pick up the east end really good, but is very static burdened in most other parts of the city. Definitely not a clear signal in the urban areas of town where it needs to be and it isn't upgradeable or moveable at that frequency.
