Anyone have any predictions for radio in 2009

In kentucky obviously since this is the ky board. I really don't have many i do think wlrs will go away for eternity. What it will become who knows maybe the fresh format.

And i would like to know how the new 93.9 has listeners i have not seen one commercial or billboard. The new 93.9 is 50/50 whether they stay or go. If people like them they will go away if people don't like them they will stay.

I think a real war between kiss and djx will heat up.

It is a safe bet the suits will do the opposite.

Oh and i will work on my grammar on posting for 2009

I predict no Sustainable changes,, unless its on 93.9................ I honestly dont think the WLRS calls, or the current format are going anywhere anytime soon.... Louisville is a Country music, and Rock and Roll city, and it pretty much always has been and will be.... With the new changes at 103.1 and 103.9 happening just a short while back, i dont see anything happening anytime soon... What is on 104.3 now??? I dont really consider it a louisville station,, but its billed as one,,Are they still some form of AC or Hot AC,,,, If anything happens this year, it will probably be 104.3 or 93.9.......... I dont know much about the AMs,,, so no comment.

I enjoyed the Dance Music pirate on 99.3 before it died in february of last year,, but it was fun while it lasted,, but probably not feasible for one of the legal stations to actually be able to sell ads in Hillbilly city.... No offense to the residents,, Most Louisville residents are actually very educated, and the people are more like Indiana or Cincinatti people,,,Moreso than the rest of the state,, but you cant deny that the Midwest, and the south love their Country and Classic Rock..

I dont know how well Louis 100.5 is billing,,, but such stale playlist,,,, I honestly think they should have kept the Fox on 100.5..... I doubt anything happens to this station this year though.

I dont know much about the numbers in lexington,, but im thinking with all the ACs and all the Top 40-Hip Hop stations,, one of them may flip,,,Not WLKT THE KAT,,, or Mix 94.5 or kiss 96.9,, but maybe Hot 102,,, and maybe 106.3..... these are just guesses,,,, no research to back it up,, so dont knock me...

104.3 is way-fm a christian ac station which is also simulacasted on 105.9 when salem sold the river.

Mid west clubber i disagree with you about lrs simply because they fired all the staff any station that is gonna stich around isn't gonna do that. I bet a format change is in the air.

All n all not many changes in louisville radio in 09 but the rest of the state who knows.

I wish soomeone would step up to the plate and challenge 84 whas!!!The mighty one needs a good butt kickin.

And recently i heard a best of francene i do not want to hear a rerun of a talkshow!!!Same on you whas!!!

Good fodder gang.... A load to think about it... I agree that The "Derby City" is the meeting place of Midwest to the Midsouth and L'ville is more in common with Ohio and Indiana in culture... We in Evansville (down river) are almost the opposite... We are so Kentucky in roots, due to the war time production of WWII.... Most moving into the city were from Western Kentucky.... One note... Way-Fm's official format definition is Christian CHR with an Adult CHR lean, days and 12 to 25 in the evening daypart.. I helped develop that format back in 1987 with their first FM in Fort Myers-Cape Coral-Naples, FL... They are about 20 to 25 more CHR than the Salem AC format and their night format with "Total Access" is Teen / College in formatics (out of the Nashville Network Programming Hub...

Cox could have done it with 103.1, but oh well. What could have been...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS_1M_M6YB4 It is a shame this was a stunt, this could have kicked WHAS's butt on news coverage alone. The News/Talk stunt begins at 4:00. Yeah, I know news cost money and there are Corporate Vice Presidents that deserve end of year bonuses and shareholders that demand their dividends......

A prediction.......WLAP will move to FM. It should be on 94.5 but more than likely it will land on 105.5. The AM will become some form of Sports.

On christmas day in the past 84 whas played there own christmas music not this year they played that syndicated mannheim steam roller show.

Shame on you whas they couldn't even play local christmas music they had to rely on a syndicated show. ???

thats strange because i could swear at times in the past i could turn on WIBC in Indy and WHAS from Louisville and they be playing the same exact stuff at almost the same exact times in years past. but then again my hear could always be decieving me

Didn't WHAS used to play "sounds of the season" or something like that from the ABC Radio Network?

Probably, it was some prepackaged show that played on several AM stations. This year WHAS had some Rush show on with a bunch of musical parodies for part of Christmas day.

Yes, more sports. There are lots of potential $$$$ when it comes to UK and they have the coverage.

I believe it was something like that because i know i could flip through the big News talkers Like 1530 WCKY back in the day before the got clear channeled, WHAS, WIBC, WJR, WLS or WGN on of those 2 out of chicago WTVN, WTAM, KMOX all airing the same thing at the same time. but dont quote me on that but i know flipping around i heard same thing on multiple AM News talkers

Isn't 105.5 is on the aloha list? If so, it wouldn't make a lot of sense to do that. I'd be shocked to see them put a news/talk on a 100kw stick at 94.5.

Looks like Bill Gentry is the GM over Louisville and Lexington now - I wonder if that will be a trend going forward, especially with programming? With Kelly Carls as OM of Louisville, could they be planning a similart tact with Lexington and consolidating that, too?

Do u think terry meiners or francene will be let go?I never thought mike shannon would be fired so anyone is fair game
If CC is gonna cut the dollars thats been rumored $400 mil, I think it will be lucky if local drive time hosts will be left. Such a shame and waste of talent. At HAS I'd say Tony Cruise, Terry Meiners, and Paul Rogers might be spared. Rogers might be spared since he does the U of L games. I'd say 790 KRD might go all national Fox Sports cept the Joe B. and Denny show since its so popular and Dave Jennings is host. Coyote might stay at WAMZ as voicetacker, or it could go back to it started 30 years ago with Bob Kingsley announcing the songs. I think he still is in the business and doing a countdown.

Meanwhile in Lexington, it was Bob Kingsley on K-93 and John Borders on 94 1/2. That was the way it was until 1987, two old school automated FM's fighting it out.

Anyway, if there is a long shot bet, put me down for WAMZ to go Hip Hop. ;D

I can't decide if you are joking or if you are saying that cause AMZ would be adjacent to B-96.5, and have a more powerful signal, therefore more easily found. In this climate, ANYTHING is possible.
