I know theyve dropped overall, but wondering if the morning news went down when Carla got moved to the afternoons. (And no Carla bashing! Please! I'm a fan :) )

KRLD's cume is higher than its been in years. Morning drive is up overall and afternoons have gained some strength too. What they need now is to generate more TSL. I look for them to drop Gallagher soon for a new voice, and tweak the Ernie Brown show a bit. A few contests and giveaways should help keep people listening longer. KRLD management is pleased with current financials, still one of the highest grossing stations in the market in their target demographic.

BTW: your email address

Hey while you're at it, please correct your email address in your profile to something that is actually YOURS. This way I can properly forward you all the emails that have been being sent to [email protected] from people who actually thought that was your address. Because *I* registered that email address.

KRLD was down overall in the latest trends. You could say it was because of the latest changes, or you could wait until mgmnt puts its spin on it. Bottom line is, you can't continue to play games with the listener...changing anchors every 30 minutes. They're a lot smarter than that. Carla and Brad were getting good numbers in the last book and there was no reason to fix something that wasn't broken, not to mention taking Alice off the air at once. Despite what's been posted here in the past, Carla has shown great talent and courage in the face of mounting corporate pressure and that says a lot, not to mention Alice and Mark's dedication, as well.

As for the hateful posts about Carla a few weeks back: She was in the hospital, leaking spinal fluid as a result of a bad medical procedure to treat neck pain. She was never looking for another job and clearly, based on her talent, looks and her 10 years worth of connections, she could go anywhere she wants. Does anyone accepct the fact that someone can love radio news these days? Some of you owe her an apology.

Don't know what you're looking at, but the latest Arbitron monthly trend report shows KRLD down in every daypart, in every demo, aqh from the summer book to the august-sept-october survey. October is dismal. And are you going to apologise to Carla?

dallasnews is right: Rearranging the anchor lineup every few months just for the sake of change is pointless. It doesn't improve ratings and only confuses listeners. Management had a good lineup before Tom Bigby came along. He was fired but not before setting the station back a couple of years. As for Carla Marion, she is talented and pairs nicely with Mark Watkins.

Anchor pairings

As if anyone cares what I think...the best anchor pairing would be Alice with Mark and Mike with Carla. In the years they were a team, Mike and Alice worked well together, but his laid-back pacing clashes with Alice's focus. She is much sharper when she works with Mark. They compliment each other well. And Carla is a great compliment to Mike. She handles the ad-libs and reactions to Mike's sardonic approach quite well. She can't quite keep pace with Mark's delivery.
There was a reason Brad was taken off the morning drive anchor shift all those years ago. His transitions with Mike are like a transmission grinding gears without double-clutching. He should be put on a split-shift, and be used as the feature player on weather in morning and afternoon drive time. And what a waste having Peter anchor evenings. He had a great thing going as entertainment reporter. He's a good anchor, but it would really add some value to the station to have a decent entertainment reporter.
And Kudos to the new news director. How refreshing to have a manager capable of doing the jobs of the people under him. Todd's reports add some needed depth to the reporting staff.

Re: Anchor pairings

I heard that KRLD ND Todd Jeffries wants to move Carla to mornings with Mike Rogers and Alice to Afternoons with Mark Watkins. I like that. From what I've heard Spittle & Jeffries are a good team and the company seems to be ready to let them make things happen in a long range plan. not sure what that means but it sure would be nice to see KRLD move up.
