Anyone hear Bruno for DP this morning?

It was good to have him back in the morning...Dan's show is different than Tony's old one, so I missed the "fun & frivolity"

Hope those rumors are true that Bruno is coming back!

yeah, he sounded good and it's interesting that Patrick and Cowherd(the 2 live sports morning shows) are based in Ct. and Bruno lives in LA and can't find a gig?

That goes to show how weak the stable of local sports talent is when neither of the 2 big sports sticks can field a top flight local morning show in the country's 2nd biggest market.

It's said as sort of a running joke when Bruno is on with Radnich, but I think Bruno holds out for more money. He has a spot with KNBR (1050 probably) in the Bay Area.

I heard him and hope to hear more...

And he was actually talking sports. The problem with his last syndicated show was that most of the time he'd be doing something way off-target like a live broadcast from the Hooters in Appleton, WI.

If Patrick's syndicator did put something together for him I think there's a market. As far as him not finding a local gig in LA, remember he's already blown up his bridges with ESPN.

Tony sounded rested and interested and did a great job!
Don't make so much of a big deal about the burned ESPN bridges.
They have a failing ESPN operation on 710 in LA.
They could use Bruno and I think that they may just pull the trigger with him in afternoon drive.
Did you hear the guys that do that afternoon show in LA? It is possibly the worst major market afternoon drive I have ever heard.
Then last week Cowherds show had them sitting in for him. They spent 3 hours doing three LA related topics. Nothing like understanding your audience. Bruno would double their numbers in one book.

C'mon...I love Bruno as much as anyone....but he has one shot left and that is to have his own show like DP and Rome...even if it is XM/Sirius like Kornheiser, at least he can do his show. It would be national and I would listen...Imagine him having to talk USC football and Lakers all the time on the 2nd plae sports station in LA during afternoon drive? He might as well call it quits....that's a disgrace and an OUTRAGE. ATL, you are right...that station is horrible, but not even Bruno can make it better...especially a local show tony in the PM....ESPN in LA sounds like sports radio from 1995.

And as for Bruno's last show, it was a morning show...that is where Tony is best. Patrick is too borings for mornings...don't get me wrong his show is solid and still better than anything ESPN, FOX, or Sporting News puts on. That is why all the big city stations other than LA play Dan later on in the day. Put Bruno on in the AM, then Rome, and then Dan somehwere else...you can have your local afternoon show reading stats out of the paper and talking to columnists....and then games at night or take the hacks from Gamenight or even worse JT The Brick screaming about how he has the balls to talk sports at night or whatever he does during his show these days.

Bruno isn't good and I agree he would suck doing local LA sports radio. All of these hacks scream and sound the same and have no idea how to generate good radio.

I think he's done. The networks want low-paid guys who aren't good enough to command big money in local markets where talent actually drives ratings and makes 7 figures in those select cities where sports has traction and can be sold to legit sponsors for big revenue. You could take EVER LA on-air person and combine all of their salaries and it wouldn't equal what Mike North was making in Chicago to do a local show or guys like Angelo Cataldi in Philly or Mike and The Mad-dog in NYC. 570am runs 12 straight hours of syndicated programming from Midnight till Noon! And that's the LA station that has some ratings, USC and the Lakers.

May Jim DeCastro at "The Content Factory" in Chicago will come up with a plan to launch Bruno in syndication as did Dan Patrick from the same firm.

Patrick's done ok with the deal.

Maybe lightning will strike twice.

I had the exact same thought.

I could easily see a schedule of either (all times eastern):

* Dan Patrick (9-12 AM), followed by Tony Bruno (12 - 3 PM); or

* Tony Bruno (6-9 AM), followed by Dan Patrick (9-12 AM)

I agree that Bruno is a national guy. I also agree, that Los Angeles has to be the WORST Major sports talk town in America.

I thought DP was kinda boring at first, but admittedly his show has gotten better over time. But I also have to say that Tony Bruno is and always has been a much better entertainer, and this last week was probably the best week the DP show has ever had! Other than TB bitching about not having a job, he did very good this week, especially considering that he hasn't been on the air for a while.

He really needs to be back on the air, and it should be a national show. I sure hope he can make that happen; I have to wonder if he hasn't been his own worst enemy in that regard. Maybe he should knock on FSR's door, even though that didn't end well last time. SNR is out of the question; ESPN might be a longshot. He needs to land somewhere soon though; it's a waste of talent for him not to be on the air.
