Anyone hear the DLR promos on WYSP?

Bleh. Maybe if this was the 80's I would be digging it, but so far I have to say that coming out of a Stern segment into a DLR Radio promo sounds just about as lame and awkward as you could imagine.

The promo itself is like the listener was some sort of attractive female and he was trying to pick them up in a bar - with that too smooth voice - and what's with the Russian chick? Nothing about those promos make me want to listen, and I have been a loyal Stern listener since '86.

I have a bad feeling this was over before it started. I will say that WYSP is now my station of choice on the weekends when I want to hear music, but that's weekends.

Oh, while I am on the subject, did anyone hear the Stern-cast confessions last week regarding being Howard's replacement in Philly? Very interesting.

Quite frankly, I'm intrigued by Nothing but Yeah!! I find that funny as hell.

No, and I guess what's worse is that I didn't even pick it up and I have heard it a couple times...I think I was stuck on the image - theater of the mind - there is DLR in friggin spandex singing bosey bosey bop laying on top of two bimbos in bikinis (one of them russian) spouting his philosophies of life...all morning. No thanks.

I think we have all been through this before with Dee Snyder - I couldn't stop thinking of Mee Snyder in drag doing his show. There is nothing cool about that.

In my opinion WYSP should have imaged DLR as though he was a man on fire running through a crowded room - create a friggin spectacle! Get people's attention, and right quick! Give me a REASON to eagerly await the start of the DLR show, cause as of now as a loyal listener of Stern I feel three things; resentment towards Infinity, sorrow that it is about to end, and anticipation for that first day of Stern-freedom. Howard did an excellent job over the past few months of making me FEEL that way, and frankly Infinity killed themselves by handling this the way they have.

Didn't DLR do some morings in LA? Don't they have some outrageous segments they could have played as a "tease"? Give me a reason to listen. I owe DLR nothing. I already bought his records - including Eat Em and Smile, love that Yankee Rose. Conversely, I owe Howard for years upon years for making me cry laughing and providing compelling content - that's the difference.

DLR and WYSP "owe" me some quality content or they lose me as a listener! That first "taste" was not getting it done.

DLR did some fill-ins in Boston earlier this year. I heard the MP3 of it, and I have to say, he wasn't bad for being new at it.<P ID="signature">______________
