Anyone Here Using a Vorsis AP-2000 or FM-2000 Audio Processor?

We have an opportunity to buy a new FM-2000 by Vorsis at a good price for our medium-market non-HD Oldies FM.

Can anyone who actually has a Vorsis AP-2000 or FM-2000 on-the-air give us an idea about how it sounds for them...how it competes in their market...ease of operation...loudness without distortion, etc?

We will be replacing a lower-end Vorsis VP-8 which has been very clean but doesn't sound "big" enough for us anymore.

BTW, we can't afford the new Vorsis Air Aura or the new Omnia 11 or new Optimod for that matter.

Any help is greatly appreciated. However, I know that audio processing draws some strong opinions here and I would really like to hear from someone who actually uses the FM-2000/AP-2000 Vorsis on a daily basis.

Thanks in advance.

I know you're asking about the Vorsis, but don't discount the Omnia 6 or the Optimod 8500. They're not the 11 or 8600, but are competent processors and the price has dropped due to the newer offerings of both companies. I'm test driving an 8500 now for a client... didn't like it until I put the Ariane in front of it though. The Orban is good for that "larger than life" oldies sound you're going after. I'll be testing the Omnia and the Vorsis in the next couple of weeks.

IF you can get it for a try before you buy, that would be the best option. There's nothing like trying out a processor on your station, with your music, production, jocks etc. and your entire air chain. You won't know for sure until you do that, and everyone else's opinions are going to be just that. You have to use your own ears and taste to decide what you like.

I've heard a few AP-2000's and have been impressed. Has an Omnia-ish feel without that "turning things down" feeling you get from an Omnia.

I've seen setups in 3 band AGC mode which makes it sound very smooth.

what version software are you running on the vp-8? There is a new release 1.5,i believe.I would contact Vorsis. This box is a serious player.it .Ariane is probably the best AGC leveler on the market.Been using them forever.A station in South FL has the new Vorsis Air Aura, mercy it's a killer..Demo's are the best way to see how the box fits your taste....

Try it, try it, try it... That's the only way to find out exactly how it sounds, how it performs for you and all that you are asking.

People can give you their opinions but you don't know what their preferences are, what they consider "loud", "big", how competitive their market is, etc.

There must be a way to try the processor before you buy it, even if it means borrowing a new (demo) unit from the Vorsis dealer near you.

The VP-8 Plus is currently at Version 3.9.0

VP-8 users can upgrade to the PLUS version by visiting our website at www.vorsis.com

You're going to buy a box. Call your friendly seller of boxes, and ask to demo all the candidates. Then buy the one which fits your needs best, within the constraints of your budget. Mr.Foti, Mr Orban, and Mr WGLI will each tell you theirs is best. They're right. The best is the one which works best for you. As long as the dealer knows he will sell you one of them, he should be reasonable in geting demos for you to decide.
