Anyone know about 99.3?

The CP for KJAZ/Thorndale expires on 9/30 and was wondering if anyone knows the status of this Austin rimshot. Speaking of rimshots, how about 97.7 out of McQueeney?

Love some insight if anyone knows anything, it's always fun to hear sign-ons!

I think the last thread about that station a while back on the boards, was dont expect much to happen on that station, I think they asked 99.5 Kiss San antonio to downgrade so they could move in closer, but 99.5 got a applacation for a much stronger signal. Thats what I heard, I may be wrong though.<P ID="signature">______________

99.5 KISS wants to boost their signal? From what I can tell, it seems pretty good to me. Generally quite clear south of Austin once you clear the KDHT booster at 99.7. Buda is usually the point where is comes in fairly strong. I would love to see them move closer to Austin. Perhaps something like KBPA. Great signal throughout all of metro austin and most of San Antonio north and eastward. But that will never happen for two reasons (maybe more)

1.) That would interfere with 99.7 in Austin
2.) KISS doesn't give a rats ass about Austin so its not likely they would shoot their signal this way on purpose.

Cant see anything happening with 99.3 unless they put a fairly weak signal in the Round rock or Georgetown area. Something similar to KNLE--however, I could see that giving KHHL problems at 98.9. Spacing would almost certainly be too close.

From what I heard, at one time, KJAZ was exploring the smooth jazz option. However, that was before it failed yet again. It also won't put much of a signal into Austin, or at least it wouldn't according to the maps I've seen.

I can get KISS in South Austin without a problem.

To clarify where it stands now, KJAZ wanted to move closer to
Austin by seeking a downgrade of KISS from a Class C to C1, so
KISS got busy and applied for greater antenna height, not more
power. You're right about KISS not caring about Austin, but
that's not the issue. They just didn't want to be forced into
a lesser classification. For now 99.3's upgrade plans are
back to square one.

On the issue of KISS interfering with 99.7, remember that it's
not a "booster" for KDHT. It's a licensed translator but it's
expendable. They have to accept any present or future
interference from full power stations, and isn't taken into
account where those stations are concerned. If somebody got
approval for a full-power station that wiped out the coverage of
KDHT's translator,too bad.

I would love to see KISS move closer to Austin. We need a station like KISS. Austin's rock stations are a joke. I get KISS pretty clear here at home and in the car. I'll put up with a bit of static to hear the bands I love. As far as KDHT, they need to kill that 99.7 signal. Most days for me KISS dominates the 99.7 translator.

The 99.7 booster does little for the station except right near the towers on the west side of town. 93.3 has a blowtorch signal and beats out the fairly weak KXBT in almost all parts of town. KXBT's signal is about 30 miles east northeast of austin and puts a fairly weak signal into most of the city except the eastern and northern parts. But I guess it doesnt matter because most of the people listening to that utter garbage live on the eastside anways.

KISS is a great station. Living up in Round rock, I rarely get to hear it. Would love to see 99.7 as a KISS booster but since KISS doesn't give a damn about Austin, not likely to happen.

No I think your right about the KISS upgrade, and that's all good news to me!
