Anyone know what Houston AM is for sale?

Listed on a station brokerage website:

Houston Market AM for sale.....Outstanding Signal…$10.5 MM Cash.

My guess would be 920 AM. DAYTIME...it is a monster!

Could be KBME. Mike O posted an FCC link indicating that KBME would be divested by Clear Channel, IIRC.

KLVL FOR SALE FOR ABOUT 6 MIL AND KYST 920AM 5,000 WATTS DAY TIME FOR SALE FOR 9 MIL NOT A PENNY LESS!! KGBC FOR SALE FOR 3.2 MIL

Is KLVI in Beaumont considered a Houston area AM - it covers Houston as well as some of the closer AM stations.

I tried for two years to broker KGBC for less than a million bucks. No interest, no takers. It's interesting current owner, I guess that doctor, is hoping for $3.2 million.

total rip off i was in the same room when the 2 originl owners sold it to arrango for 750 thousand dls the studios are way out their and really the signal is fair but not the best! But you can bet the station is for sale i would say more for like 1.5mil

What station brokerage website was it on?

Texas Tuner

Here it is: www.radiobroker.com/

Heck, Im curious as to which BPT AM is for sale at $450K...NONE of them other than KLVI would be even worth half that!
I wonder if Martin is trying to sell 990 in Beaumont (but with its sucky signal, its not worth that much)...KOGT?? NAW.....KUHD (now KBPO)?? No way!!!! the new 1300?? Hmmmmm maybe but not proven or built at its new site....what a joke of a price....

Wondered the same, CW. But it really could be KSET. I've looked at their revised coverage plans, now calling for 1500 watts day/320 night from four towers north of Beaumont. Good, but not $450,000 good. We know the Triangle isn't that Golden.

The station in Beaumont/Port Arthur may be KOLE. I understand it's on the block as we speak.

you have to admit, is 1340 worth it?? Heck 1380 wasnt.....isnt, errr whatever ;)
and of course McBride is still hurting after all the lawsuits from his selling 92.5 to CC....he might sell 1340...but I dont see it worth 450k....and 1250 isnt worth it either (especially when you factor in the 1/2wave tower has to be replaced before it falls!)

Maybe its KOLE, so they can move KRCM to the boondocks.

Why would there be lawsuits over the sale of 92.5 to CC? I'm sure they would have been thrown out.

By the way, I think he's involved in the 88.1 FM religious station in Beaumont, if I'm not mistaken.

Clarification --

The Beaumont-Port Arthur station for sale is KOLE -- not sure which Houston AM is for sale.

At the end of the day, it really doesn't matter what any of us think, it's what the seller gets for the station. Remember, there are buyers who see more potential in any particurlar facility than any of us would. As to KOLE, I've heard that Mr. McBride would like to retire and get out of the Golden Triangle and let someone else deal with the day to day radio station operations.

The comment about the lawsuits is interesting though; I hadn't heard about that.

Texas Tuner

I guess Mr. McBride is saving money by not lighting the KRCM tower at night. I drove by it Friday night and it was unlit.
