Anyone Listen to McPhee Last Night?

Wanted to get some opinions on this....I only listened for about 10 min, then (naturally) she got in one last barb and BOOM went to break (gee, whatta shock)

Anyhoo, the part I'm referring to is, she had a guy on who either is or was a firefighter, and was arrested for either alcohol or drug possession, I really don't know and hoping others can post the details that I don't know. But what I do know is, she blasted him on thursday night, then had him on friday night, and right before he came on, she gave an account of what happened, and then said "...and now he can tell his side" which after listening for a few mintues was funny because she made it her priority to try and not let him tell his side.

She sorta got pwned in the short time I heard it, she would say something she claimed was fact, and then he would come back with a statement to show she was wrong, or at least didn't know what she was talking about.

Right before she got her last barb in and cut off the guy so she could quickly go to a commercial, she calls him a disgrace.

Well Shelly, you are a disgrace to Boston radio.

For all of Michelle's Mcphee's "rough edges"...she doesn't have a radio voice, she doesn't have radio timing or finesse.

BUT...the firefighter issue IS what people out there are talking about. (I wonder what was Dan Rea talking about?) (Surely we don't need more syndicated shows talking about Hilary!)

Mcphee has an awful boston accent...but she is a smart cookie...has lots of contacts and knows the city inside and out....usually the gritty side.

I think she has already gotten better since January.....and it's much better than Michael Savage or other syndicated re-runs. I am glad they are running local programming at that hour.

You are right, I would much rather listen to her above Savage. I just hate the arrogance that some radio hosts have when they want only their voice/opinion heard. I equate that to bullying.

McPhee has a face for radio and a voice for newspapers. She should rename her show Crime Night. There isn't a night that goes by that she isn't banging on about some Boston Cop/Crime story. I don't think realizes there is a large audience that lives outside Boston and never comes into the city or cares for a steady diet of cop stories.

I question how much she actually knows about how the city ( with the exception of the inner workings of the BPD) actually works. I have heard her make several factual errors. She has no understanding of basic political operations. She was a joke the night she co-hosted the primary coverage.

I just read her most recent Boston Magaizine article and I found 2 major factual mistakes.

For someone who likes to present herself as a tough Boston/Revere chick, she has a very thin
skin. If someone really takes her on she quickly cuts them off.

This morning, she rudely cut a caller off who as he said, was not interested in wasting his time trying to come up with an inane title for Deval Patrick's book. But would like to defend Patrick's right to write a book. No your not going to do that it is my show. Good Bye.

I am happy TKK is doing more local programming but there is better talent out there than Miss. McPhee.

I guess you can't please everyone. People who live in Boston proper always say that Boston media ignores them. There is no coverage of Boston City Council, Schools, etc.

Here's a gal talking about the streets of Boston....and others don't like that either.

Well, could it be that she is correct and you are incorrect in your assumptions?

What were the "factual mistakes"?

Haven't you been listening talkradio? That's how it's done these days! :) LOL

Well....become a program director and then you can make those choices.

BTW...Who would you put in that slot?

I'd put Laura back in that slot. Local stuff belongs during the daytime, not at night when no one's listening.

Janet Ghegalian and Avi Nelson have more knowledge about local stuff than just about anyone, and they're very experienced at how to handle callers.

Given that logic, there would never have been a Larry Glick or David Brudnoy.

They could give advice on the AARP, Social Security and give referrals to elder law attorneys....

Her voice is almost as annoying as Michael Graham's.
