Anyone Minding the Store for East Texas AM's?

Just a little update on how poorly East Texas AM's are being ran. ???

KEES - I heard both KTBB's and KNYS audio at full volume during the day!

KWRD - Audio from KPXI leaking in behind the ESPN feed.

KFRO-AM - Audio has been awful for over a year, but it's worse now. Someone get out to the transmitter site and change those tubes.

KOFY - Station sounds good, but are they still running without a licence?

And just for the record, while driving on I-20 last night, I noticed the lights were off on the old KLUE tower.

As has been noted here before, that's the last anyone has seen on this, officially. So yes, it's still operating without a license and with Jerry Russell nowhere to be found the station is sounding better than it has in years. Somehow I find that ironic.

It is channel 36, a local religious TV station (satellite fed). I'll send the owner an email.

And just for the record, they finally fixed the audio on KEES now. Still here it Kilgore it seems 1430's signal is much weaker than what it was about a year ago before Gleiser decided to sell it. Anyone know the status of the sale to Salt of the Earth Broadcasting? Did it ever go through?

Since you brought it up, it looks like the sale of KEES hasn't gone through yet and the status is, shall we say, undermined. Gleiser filed for an extension of time for the consummation back in October (10/05) but it expires in 90 days. That's cutting it close.

They are still analog, but I learned tonight that changing to digital has been approved by the FCC and that should happen by the summer.

For what it's worth, I got in contact with the owner, who immediately filed a NOTAM with the FAA about the outage, and has called a tower service company to fix the problem. They've had a ton of problems recently with vandals breaking and entering the site. I suspect that the problem is not with the tower lamps themselves, but more likely with the (probably missing) copper wire that feeds them. It is sad that people can't figure out something better to do than steal wire.
