Anyone Notice Ch3 Eyewitness News Lately?

This past weekend - poor floor direction
Tonight on the 6pm broadcast - Completely inaccurate graphics as well mixed up playbacks.
Anyone else notice this lately?

My parents have watched Channel 3 for years. And I've noticed these problems for the last several years. The station has gone to hell ever since Merideth took over.

They took the station over like 10 years ago now. You're just now seeing the changes?

I think they have recently (within the last 3-6 months) began the transition over from a manually switched show to a Pakervision/Ignite automation system.

I saw a 11pm show back in early November that was a complete trainwreck! Form start to finish, the entire second block of the show had missing graphics and video, lagging or delayed transistions, anchors with the "deer in the headlights" stare, etc. It was so bad they eventually gave up and dumped to a comercial break early.

This is only the start. Look for more miscues to come!

How in the world to you run a live newscast by automation? If that is possible, why aren't the networks doing this?

WTNH uses Parkervision. I think it's just one or two people who do everything...direct, TD, run camera, roll the video, run audio, etc. I'm not sure what system WFSB uses. WHDH uses some kind of automation/server-based system as well. I don't know what the other Boston stations use. I believe WLNE rolls their video via some kind of server, but still have humans to direct the show. WPRI still has tape operators and human beings to direct and run the switcher. I don't know what WJAR does.

The networks aren't using the automation, because the strong Unions at the Network level won't allow it.
