KBPA outta Austin showed up. ;D I am able to hear them faintly throughout the west part of town, but jeez, this has to set a record. Never in my life did I ever think a station from Austin would show up in Houston ratings. Now this brings to question; Is Houston radio really that bad???

As far as Houston stations doing the same thing in Austin, the only ones I am able to hear in San Marcos with consistency is KLTN and to a lesser extent KODA

I don't know the answer, but maybe someone who does can shed some light. What happens when a Houston panelist drives up to Austin for the week and wears the meter? Does the radio they hear while in Austin count in the Houston book?

Sure, go to Austin, happen to like "Bob" and just happen to be wearing a PPM. Or maybe Grandma likes Bob. That's how this could happen.

That Cox repeated The Eagle off the old point and nearly got a 5 share. I'd be interested in some users perspective on how to digest/program around that odd result of success, with a duplicate program?

They have a really good signal in Cypress. So strong I have them on a preset. I don't really have a problem getting them until I am past Jersey Village or south past Katy.

The do have a good variety, including some oldies. Between them, 92.5 out of Beaumont, 99.9 out of Livingston, KVNS 1700, or KHVL 1490 I can usually get something listenable in the car. But they have a really good format, and it is possible, I think, that disenfranchised oldies fans may be voting with their radio dial.

I think that KHPT must be broadcasting KGLK's PPM signal. Notice how KHPT went to a 0 share like it's completely gone.

May was the last full month for The Zone, share was 1.6 and The Eagle was 2.7 so between the two different stations they got 4.3. The new combined Eagle only got 4.1 for the first full month July. so that seems like a loss of 0.2 share. Fewer listeners overall. Am I understanding this right? EDIT: Fixed math

So basically Cox has lost listeners. I mean look at KHJK. They are way up in share. I'm sure as hell not listening to any Cox stations anymore since June. Hell, 99.1 plays more songs that I like than any Cox station does anymore.

The ratings are even more confusing in the Beaumont / Port Arthur ratings (http://www.radio-info.com/markets/beaumont-port-arthur. It both stations are listed, and ratings are higher for 106.9 as expected due its ability to be received. I question the BPT results anyway, since KSET ratings seem to be lumped in with KOLE, which isn't even on the air half the time, and definitely isn't classical when it is on.

As far as the Houston ratings go, I suppose the use of 106.9 is the equivalent of using a translator (in this case, a very powerful one) for 107.5. When other stations have their ratings posted, the ratings of the translator(s) are not listed.

This past Christmas, WBLS 107.5 New York showed up in the Atlanta ratings. Obviously some folks from Atlanta visiting friends or relatives in New York for the hoidays brought their people meters with them.

So maybe some Houston residents with business in the state capital picked up KBPA, as well as some folks who can actaully listen on the west side of Houston.
