Anyone notice the changes at 99.5?

It might be my imagination, but 99.5 is sounding a little more like an oldies station. I think since their previous PD has returned that he's making some changes to freshen it up. Could they be going after the 94.1 audience? Since 94.1 has canned their music guy, they might be vulnerable to an attack. This could be an interesting little scenario.

Changes at 99.5 WMAG, mmmh? Let's see. Just tuned in. Yep. They still suck.

What time were you listening to? Was it during the weekened when they were doing th e"flashback weekened"? Maybe that's what caught you attention!

Hmmmmm! You're right..They still suck!..Gee, I thought they had fired everybody???

I listened for about an hour or so, I did not notice any difference at all. I did hear some "promo's" by Bill Flynn. It seems Bill has been there forever. Is it true he started out on KDKA in 1920? ;)

Bill started out at WDNC in Durham in the 70's, then to WKIX and on to WMAG. Been doing mornings there for the past 25 yers or so. All around great guy! One of the best...

WROK? Country? When?

(WROK in Rockford, IL??)

That's what I'm talking about..I think perhaps you mean WRQK.. Rod's leaving a few places out in his resume..I know he was fired from several other stations including WSHL at one time or was that Dusty Dunn??

He also worked at WLVV (now WKKT) when they were still broadcasting out of Statesville.

Wait a minute... I'm confused here. More changes on 99.5? Last year, it seemed to me like they were trying to tweak 99.5 to sound more like 93.9, and I was thinking they should have left 99.5 alone and put 93.9's format on 105.7. Now they're trying to make it sound like 94.1? Not a good idea, considering what happened to 100.7 when they were still WTRG...

Yeah last spring 99.5 was even calling it 'feel good music' a couple of times I listened in in the workday hours.
Then right after that they played "Another One Bites The Dust" at least one time, though.
So I ain't sure where they were going, except they were changing it from the 'soft rock workplace station' kind of thing.

The WTRG mentioned was "Oldies 100.7", the Clear Channel oldies format in Raleigh-Durham until November 2004 when it became (after some stunting) AAA WRVA-FM 100.7 The River. In 2006, the format shifted to the current classic hits as heritage classic rocker WRDU 106.1 was blown up to become country outlet "106-1 The Rooster".
