Hello -

New here - thought it was curious that WRWD posted " Tommy is under the weather and will return as soon as he can. He thanks all the fans for their support! "

Thats a bit vague, especially for someone who had a drug problem. Any word on when he'll be returning or if its rehab?

Here's another post ..

**MESSAGE TO OUR LISTENERS ABOUT TOMMY LEE**
Our Market Manager, Chuck Benfer, just visited Tommy in the hospital and would like to share a message to Tommy's listeners:

"Tommy's quite sick and will likely be in for a couple days. Tommy appreciates very much your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. He was really moved when I told him how many people were calling and asking about him. We hope to get him back to work real soon but if he tries to come back too soon it only makes it worse. We'll keep you up to speed as more information is available!"

Thank you folks for thinking of Tommy during this tough time! God bless."

I cannot help but believe this is all a result of his drug issues.

IMHO--Jack Hammer is the most over rated so called air talent I have heard in a long time. The ratings at the woof have never gotten even halfway up the dumpster, let alone get out. Don't know what the big fuss is. Unless his name carries some weight someplace...even has it on his car's license plate. Unless TW is having some more problems like before, I'd see him staying--unless he is contracted to a certain amount of goals and hasn't made them. CC is looking to cut costs as they are in debt up to their collective eyeballs????

Get well Tom---

oldies4ever ;D

I have no knowledge of TLW's current medical problem but before jumping to conclusions he also suffers from Crohns desease .I don’t even listen to WRWD , I am just saying.

Wow, were have I heard this before. Seems like it's coming back full circle... this is what happened the last time. Most of the time when he talked about being sick and being in the hospitals it was all a lie... it was all drugs.....

The reason they moved him around when he was last with them was for the drug issues. It's also plain to see that with his forgery and drug issues this could be a viable reason he's off the air. Clear Channel spends a lot of money to keep him in line, and the company does have policies where they may admit talent to rehab to keep him on the air. I say within the next year he's done. Chuck Benfer certainly put a lot on the line to bring him back and probably would to keep him on the air.

Just saying - peoples past actions are good indicators on how they will act in the future. Plus, addiction is a tough thing to deal with even if you are clean.

I wish the best to all, just wish people would really see who TLW is.

You really cannot forget about this:
They then hired Tommy Lee Walker, a former DJ to take over morning drive. In January of 2010 he was arrested and charged with six counts of felony forgery and six counts of falsifying business records and offering a false instrument for filing, misdemeanors, after using an assumed name to try to get drugs from the Ellenville Regional Hospital emergency room. During this time, he was also wanted on warrants from the town of Plattekill for forgery, the city of Poughkeepsie for contempt, and the town of Crawford for vehicle and traffic infractions, all according to the Daily Freeman.

Assuming what you are saying is true I would think Chuck Benfer would tell TLW “You had your second (or third, fourth) chance. I stuck my neck out for you and this is what you do? Not only are you DONE I will do my best to see that you never work in radio again". Addiction is a tough thing to deal with but eventually an addict must face the consequences.

Like I said, Jack Hammer has been very successful on "The Wolf" for 2 or 3 years where he did the "Morning Wolf Den". And I hope he will be taking over Tommy Lee Walker's spot in morning spot. He first came to WBPM in the beginning of 2007 as "Jack & Andre" before he joined "The Wolf" a few years later. My only hope is bring Jack Hammer to WRWD. If not, maybe a syndicated morning show would be nice.

I don't see the appeal of Jack Hammer - nice guy and had a great show on 92.9 - but obviously it wasn't him that made that show - you take his co-host and/or the PD away (Randy Turner) ... and he was just another jock doing morning drive. I know first hand that the Wolf ratings were not good- the sales have been ok - but just that. The new market manager is probably looking for more out of morning drive - and I don't think WRWD will put Jack on. I understood why the brought Tommy back - he was very successful and a great talent at one time. But the baggage is way too much to handle (all that everyone has stated here is true). I just think market manager was not totally informed about what happened - and too many of the good people were let go that had to deal with it the last time.

I don't think TLW will be off the air anytime soon. He is off the air now due to health issues that have nothing to do with drugs or forgery (WTF does that have to do with being sick??). It would seem that many people on this board would like nothing better than to see him fail but there are a large number of us who are very happy that Tommy is back on the radio. He has worked hard to overcome the demons of his past and is trying to put his life back together. I think that is allowed, if I am not mistaken, and I wish him nothing but good luck and will be listening to him as long as he is on the radio.

Well track record from his past shows drug issues, and that Clear Channel did blame "health issues" as the reason they were moving his air shifts around and why he wasnt on the air in 2008/2009.

It's a reasonable excuse.

And don't think Clear Channel wouldnt lie to cover up his "pristine" reputation.

According WRWD's Facebook page:

Thanks for makin '12 a GREAT one :) - I'll See Ya On The Radio in a week!
