Anyone on the left coast have any info?????

I was wondering if anyone has heard of anything regarding this..."Word has it that a CURRENT Los Angeles Country morning DJ has been contacted by 102.7 about a possibility of Afternoons in the Big Apple. I hear this from a few people. Country back in NY would be interesting to say the least!" It would be nice to have Country back in NY! I thought LA had no Country station though? Just wondering.

Yes, there is a Country station in LA. It's Saul Levine's 1260-AM. It's a simulcast with his other AM frequency at 540-AM. The morning man there is former KZLA midday jock Shawn Parr. However, this would mean a format change for Parr as WNEW just went to a Soft AC format as Fresh 102.7. They are currently jockless...

It is a modern ac format, and before anyone talks about a country station in New Yawk, could you see Tony Soprano or Carmella driving around listening to Travis Tritt? No, well there's your answer.

Aren't you stereotyping a bit? Do you really think that everyone in NY is a Tony Soprano?

Shawn Parr? He doesn't start till later this month. The morning guy there is Brian Douglas who was also at KZLA as well. I think he worked back in New York some time ago. Maybe there's more to this than meets the eye?

Certainly would be nice if your coast and our coast got a Country FM in '07.

Could be Brian Douglas... he's done Hot/Modern AC before (he worked at KYSR before KZLA) and he also worked for a few years at Trenton's WPST (which, when he was there, was an alternative-leaning pop station)... he'd be a good fit if it's him.
