Around 2001 (?) there were two classic hits stations. Groovin' Hits 104.5 and Kiss 106.7 were practically competitors. Kiss was the first to change format to urban Blazin' 106.7. I think 104.5 went to talk soon after that. Two stations, same format may have been oversaturation. If 97.1 drops the Oldies slogan, maybe that will bring an audience less concerned about their age, ha ha. I still think a hybrid of the old Planet would do well. More disco and (get ready for a blast from Nashville radio slogan's past) rock hits, early 80's hits may be the spark 97.1 needs.
