Anyone remember "Animal" on WOKI?

Does anyone remember, "Animal" who did mornings on WOKI for a very short period of time back in 1985? He came here to Knoxville in April of 1985, and left in July of that same year. After leaving here he went back to "Z-100 WJZR" in Charlotte, where he had previously workd.

It seems like I heard that Animal had worked in the Knoxville area even before that. I do know that he worked for Z-100 in Charlotte most of the time back in the 80's. He was also there after the station switched over to "99.7 THE FOX".

Sadly Animal passed away back in the late 90's from different health problems.

You can find some talk about Animal on the Charlotte board here on Radio-Info.

Thanks for sharing that information. I remember Jeff Freeman had told me back in 1985 when Mul was doing mornings at WOKI that he knew and had worked with Mul, I just couldn't remember where it was at. I also remember Jeff had also worked at WOKI at one time.

Do you happen to know Ric Patterson <aka> Kahuna or any of the other guys who worked with Mul back when he worked at Z-100?

No I'm sorry I don't. We stayed in touch till he passed. we saw each other a few times after Bristol. I went to Panama City after Bristol to program a CHR there and after winning custody of his daughter he returned to Charlotte to Z and later the Fox. We rekindled our friendship near the end of his life when I left Gulf 104 in Tallahassee to come to Greensboro to 98.7 Kiss that left us only an hour or so apart so we could visit. I sure miss him.

I first learned of Animal's passing back in 2005 from Ric Patterson who was also friends with Mul. He had also worked with him at Z-100 in Charlotte. There is actually a small tribute to Animal on the Z-100 "Thatwasradio.com" website that Ric built sometime back. I think he plans to eventually add a whole entire page on there that is going to be dedicated to Mul along with some photos of him and other things.

Even though Mul's stay at WOKI back in 1985 was very short, I did enjoy listening to him. I have never forgotten about him, and was sad to hear about his passing a couple of years back. I miss Jeff Freeman too. I had known Jeff since 1984 back when he did nights at U-102. Jeff Freeman was a great guy also.
