Anyone remember former Z-104 DJ "Doc Holliday"?

Any of you guys remember former Z-104 DJ "Doc Holliday"?

I believe he was there at Z-104 in Norfolk from 1987 to 1989 or 90.

He started out doing afternoons and then I think he ended up doing mornings later on.

Yes, I remember him and even has some airchecks from him. I think he was promoted to morning drive on Z104 BUT he was the '2nd jock' so-to-speak as Chris Bailey was still the main morning guy. I know he left Z104 (of his own accord) and went to Florida, and I'm pretty sure it was XL-106.7 Orlando. I think he started out there as the afternoon drive jock but when I went down there, he had been promoted to the 'morning show'. But that was the mid 90s, not sure whats happened to him since.

It was XL that he left for. Now he's at K92 in Orlando.

You are correct. Doc is now at K92 (which is a country music radio station) in Orlando doing mornings. He first came to Orlando back in 1990 after he left Norfolk, and started working at XL-106.7.

Doc decided to leave XL-106.7 due to contract reasons back in March of 2007 after nearly 17 years.

Doc also use to go by the on air name, "Shotgun Stevens", back when he did "7pm to 12mid" at WOKI-FM (HITS 100) in Knoxville, Tennessee which was from late 1984 to early 1986. I also have air checks of him from back in 1985 when he worked at WOKI. He was more of a "Greaseman" type shock jock back when he did nights on WOKI. He was pretty wild on the air I remember. He has really calmed his gimmick down over the years since then.

He left WOKI and Knoxville in early 1986 after he landed a job doing mornings at 99.7 WDJX in Louisville, Kentucky. Then he ended up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and they made him change his name to T.J. Grey. He really hated working up in Allentown he tells me, and he hated the name, "T.J. Grey" that they made him go by on the air. The station management at the Allentown radio station felt like the name, "Shotgun Stevens" was too southern for their part of the country, and that is why they made him change it.

I believe Z-104 is the radio station where he first started using his current on air name, "Doc Holliday".

I have known Doc for 23 years now, and have managed to stay in touch with him. He tells me that he really hated working up in Allentown PA. He says it was the worst radio job he ever had.
