Anyone remember John Anderson?

I worked with John at KMMK in the early 90's, and lost touch with him when I moved to St. Louis. Last I heard he was programming a station in Madison, WI, but that was maybe '94-95. Anyone know what happened to him?

I have no idea where he is now but I certainly do remember John Anderson. Before KMMK, he worked at KMZQ in the late 80s. He was also one of the first jocks ever at KJUL when they hit the air in 1989. I even remember that he was a chef at the Jojos (which became Carrows and is now CoCos) across from UNLV.

I believe he and Colleen Jackson both went to Madison, from KMMK that was a long time ago though. Who else was there at KMMK, Rob Martini, he moved on to Joliet. Wow, I do remember when KJUL signed on, seems like a lifetime ago! 107.5 was LUV 107 but that may have been a little before this time....what other long ago names and stations do we remember??

Well, I'm not real good with last names, but I'll give it a shot. Besides John and Rob there was Karen Spence on news, Rick Bonner did nights and then moved to afternoons after Martini left, I remember he did mornings at one of the Oldies stations too, I believe KRRI, before moving to KMMK, Julie..?... was the mid days goddess and did numerous voice overs in the market, and Alan..I can see his face but can't remember his last name...did nites before being bumped into overnights, then to mornings after the switch to the Edge. Any idea what these people are doing now? As far as long ago stations besides KRRI, how about Oldies 107.5...and KFBI they weren't one and the same were they?

When 107.5 was "Oldies 108" their call letters were KUDA.

I remember all of the new stations signing on in the late 80s...starting with 106.5 in 1987. Soon there was 103.5, 107.5, and 104.3. They ALL signed on as Soft ACs. It was crazy how many ACs we had at the time because 100.5 and 95.5 were also AC. Compare that to now when we only have one AC.

Thanks for bringing up the name Rob Martini. I haven't thought of him in ages. He was a very nice guy. He also worked at KWNR in the late 80s when they were AC.

One KMMK personality that hasn't been mentioned is Karen Lynn. She was also one of the original jocks at KOMP in the early 1980s. The last I heard she moved to New Hampshire. But that was over a decade ago, who knows where she is now?

Another KMMK jock was Mike Rhinehardt. He was a holdover from 103.5s "Lite" days. He may have been KMMKs original PD,I forgot. He worked at several Las Vegas stations. He arrived in 1984 from Kokomo Indiana as the final KLAV Top 40 PD and was there for their transition to easy listening KEZD. He also did parttime at KFM-102 (two different times) when they were country, fulltime at the short lived KYYX "Kicks country 95.5", parttime at the old Top 40 "Power 97" KYRK. I may be forgetting a few of the other stations he worked at. I believe he was also an instructor at the broadcasting school that used to be in town years ago. The last time he was on the radio was parttime at Sunny 106.5 about five or six years ago. The last I heard he was driving a courtesey shuttle for one of the car dealerships in town.

Mike was actually my PD at K-Lite, taking over for Steve Thomas, just before turning into KMMK. He was the director of the broadcast school I believe, Rob Martini was one of the nicest guys I have had the pleasure to work with, I wish I would have kept in touch with him. Karen Lynn, is now is West Fla. with a cumulus rock station, she was one ballsy lady, and about as smart as anyone in the buisness. Does anyone know the whereabouts of a part timer about every where, Big Jim Horton, another gem of a guy. As far as KRRI, Karen was there for a short period as well. But there aren't many formers there, after Rick Bonner, Art Kevin the owner did mornings, Rockin' Ross moved on as many know, the imaging master Sam Oneal, Bill Danning is on in Lancaster Ca. the same place he came from before Rock and Roll Inc. Ah the good old days!

This may seem strange, but I remember a listener, that everyone knew, Steve, I think the last name was Hampton, he was blind, and was a walking encyclopedia on music and what was going on everywhere.....

Since we brought up the broadcast school, National Broadcasting school, is anyone out there from the school? I know the morning guy at KOMP was one of their first graduates, anyone else? Maybe I should have started a new thread....lol

Yeah, Karen Lynn that's who I meant, don't know where I came up with Karen Spence!? You're right about Rob and Big Jim, great people! What ever became of Stitch...remember Stitch and Melanie? How about John Potter? He did mornings on...I think it was Power 97...while I was there. Is OB still in the market? Remember "The Byrd"? I think he's doing mornings in Boston.

I got an email from Jim the other day in fact....He's fine, and thinking about coming back to Las Vegas, "....before the snow flies."

Karen Lynn is easily one of the most intelligent, most talented women in broadcasting. She did the morning show at a remarkable Rock station in Ft. Myers for a few years, and then moved to sales, if I'm not mistaken.

After Power 97, John Potter did mornings at KWNR from 1990-1995. He had an extremely popular morning show. From there he went to mornings at the old KKAT/Salt Lake City. He didn't go over well there (he was rumored to have made fun of a Brigham Young statue in downtown Salt Lake). The station ran apology sweepers for several weeks after he left.

After Salt Lake, Potter did mornings at the oldies station in Boston, then TV weather in Bangor Maine, from there I believe it was TV weather in Waco Texas, and then he spent several years doing mornings at the Lotus country station in Reno until losing his job just over a year ago.

I don't know where he is now. Maybe some of the people who read this board up in Reno know where he is.

John is doing some traffic reporting/PT air on the citadel cluster here in Reno, as well as weekend weather on the CBS affiliate.

Re: Anyone remember Lurch?/Randy Hood

I didn't know John but anyone remember Randy Hood, PD at KFMS
during the mid 80's later at KWNR. Big guy with a beard and
a deep voice.
