Anyone remember Star 92.1?

Maverick wanted a better nightime signal for their sports station. So they took the format that used to be on 93.1 and moved it to 92.1 while the sports format moved from am 940 to 93.1. It sort of like what 1460 the fan did here in columbus except theirs is simulcasted on 97.1 while in Lima 940 went oldies.

...and now, 940 is going back to Talk like it used to be in the early 90's. Seems like they can't seem to make up their mind on what they want to do with it

Very true, although KISS uses Premium Choice music, most of their jocks are local... maybe not live though. If Star 92.1 came back today, it'd be interesting.

...yeah don't like it either. Was wondering why I haven't heard Phil Austin in the mornings lately. However,I do like Ron Willaims' comparatively no-nonsense non-rant approach. I should have seen the writing on the wall then.

It is sad that AM -940 still apperantly has an identity crisis. WCIT's niche was top forty before it automated in 1975..it went downhill after that. Then adult standards in the 80s,it's first attempt at talk in the 90s and then JAMZ moving from 104.9. Lima's oldies listeners lose again.

What's left for Lima? (aside from micropower 101.1 The Track)

THAT'S IT! (DING!)

Start a micropower 50s/60s/70s oldies in Lima.

And maybe a Part 15 R&B for those who miss 940 JAMZ as well.

LET THE REVOLUTION BEGIN!

That's because star 92.1 was more of a modern AC than a CHR. It was sad to see Clear channel fire up a CHR to kill off a heritage CHR like they do in other cities where they don't own the heritage one.

Most shows on 939Kissfm are local. 92Zoo wasnt a heritage chr anymore. It was ac/hotac when wild fired up in 03.

btw...if 101.1 the track doesn't reduce power the FCC will be knocking on mr. beans door real soon! might want to tell him his station is NOT part 15.

Star 92.1 was ranked #43 on the "Top 50 Mainstream CHR" stations of 2008. That is something I am honestly proud of. However, that could not have happened if it wasn't for the solid team we had in place. Chris Connor, myself, JP Knight, Jim Edwards, Jay Thomas, Brian Steel, Dave Roach, Matt Childers and Tiffany Binder. The ownership and consultant as well. They are the team that all made the station the success it was in national rankings.

Yeah, where can we send the FCC? What's your address? :)

KENNEDY:

Good to hear you're still kicking man, and thank you for the props. I still have all the masters from the productions that I did for that station and do still throw them on from time to time. It was a great time. Thank you for for the great compliments!

...and to the gentleman who made the comment about CC firing up a CHR to kill 92 ZOO, I honestly do not believe (and no one can convince me otherwise) that CC was what killed 92 ZOO. While I do believe that it was indeed an "element" that led to it's demise, there was A LOT more that went on with that station (92 ZOO) behind the scenes that led to it's eventual downfall, and subsequent death than just another station in the market..there really was. The CC-CHR launch just sped it up a little bit.

"Zoo" was going to crash and burn eventually anyway. It was just a matter of time!
