that was really when indy chr radio was really good......
Amen...good radio. It was partially a battle with WNAP, but WNDE was still in the race as well.ChiefEngineer said:Cecil Heftel owned it. Worked at Kiss 99 which became "The New WIKS" then Indyz Apple WZPL. Heftel was ,arried to the Dole heir? Always got Macadamia nuts on my birthday.
When Smash left WNAP it had already had it's best days. WIKS was really neat as CC Matthews was PD, just coming from one of my all time favorite stations "JJ 100" in Louisville. 2 sets of jingles. They discovered it sounded like "kid dynomite" and changed it to KJ 100. Bumper Morgan did mid days. Excellent station. Lateral replays on the AM.
The music at the time was not being played here or in Ky. Some really rockin things like Led Zepplin in through the out door, Stairway to heaven, Gimme 3 steps, etc. Top 40 with "Mo" Mentum. Thanks E and CC!

I wasn't sure, did Great American buy it afterwards? I know Booth American Broadcasting owned them like in the late 80's or early 90's.
What broadcaster does E stand for that you list next to CC?
