Anyone remember?

Anyone remember?

I was in Augusta Ga. in the late 70's and there was this station WDDW on fm and also had a T.V. station(ch 6?) with the same call letters. Can't remember the frequency. I believe a r&b format?
Just recall them saying they were 100,000 watts of......can't remember.

Is that radio station still in operation? The T.V. station still up and running?

Last time in Ga. was in 1982.

Just a Seattle guy that wants to know....Thanks!!

Re: Anyone remember?

There is a WRDW TV on channel 12 in Augusta that is CBS. I can not find what FM station went by WRDW in 1982 but the AM station is on 1630 now while the original WRDW am was on 1480am. From 1985 until 1991 WRDW-FM was on 96.9 which is now WTHB.

Re: Anyone remember?

wrdw that sounds familiar. Back in the Ft. Gordon days (Army) Although I hated it then I miss it now...lol
Thanks!! (Army life) Still blasting 100.000 watts? Thanks again..

Re: Anyone remember?

I believe WRDW-AM was owned by James Brown in the 60s. While I was stationed at Ft. Gordon, I dropped by the station in hopes of seeing he Godfather of Soul. No such luck.

You would be correct. His first airplay was on WRDW, then he bought the station after he became the "Godfather of Soul". I can't remember when he sold the station, but in 1996 he owned WAAW-FM, my first gig in radio.

I think Beasley owns the WRDW calls now. The WRDW-TV station is owned by Davis. As a matter of fact, the imaging for WRDW-TV sounds like it's done by a former Z-93er.
