Anyone use Comrex Access Portable?

Thanks for the overmodulated audio comment! I has learnt something, and maybe corrected a recurring problem. I shall nudge our remote techs.

This is an interesting theory and I look forward to your feedback in terms of improvement, if any.

I do know there have been urban myths for years about high levels causing ISDN and Switched 56 codecs to hang up. It certainly never happened with any codec I have used. I have never been able to confirm if this was true with some of the really old codecs (like the CCS micro-56) or if there is no kernal of truth to it. Certainly too much clipping could make G.722 to temporarily lose frame.

Keep us posted.

The older Comrex Hotline looses connection with overmodulated audio. If I run it through a compressor or closely watch levels it's fine. Heat still kills the Hotline. If it's outside it HAS to be in the shade. A box over the top usually works. Case attracts heat. This hasn't changed with the Access. having said that still great when you take it's problems into account.

I don't mean to question your expertise but when we send hot levels from the remote back to the station the audio on the receive side starts getting the old digital stutter before cutting out entirely. Drop the levels, the problem goes away.
I've had the same problems and dropped the audio levels with the same results. Cleared right up.

Had same issues with both of my Comrex Vectors. Seems after a while, power supplies heat up and then excessive current draw will cause it to unlock. I've found even turning the headphones down helps. Anything to reduce the current draw.

Also chopped the connectors off and wired power supply directly to motherboard. Dirty or loose power supply connector would also cause dropouts if bumped.

Lastly, I have to reseat the modem board about every 3 months. If not, it will start to drop out alot. After reseating the modem board, it works great.....for a while at least.

Also have to say I have a Matrix and a Blue Box which I have abolutely no problems with. Both units very rarely drop out.
