ANYONE USING "DIGITAL JUKEBOX"?

Hey Engineers,

Anyone out there using a program called "Digital Jukebox?" I've got some questions I'd like answered. By the way, the reason we use this program is because it's the only one we've found that allows us to do "internet voice tracking" without having to pay thousands of dollars per remote voice-tracking site.

In my own humble opinion, I would run for the hills before ever using Digital Jukebox.

A fellow broadcaster introduced it to me and I even wrote a product review of the then-curren DOS-based Digital Jukebox http://www.www.rwonline.com/article/2398 for trade paper Radio World. The system was ok, but it had a bunch of quirks. When the Windows-based version started to be marketed I started playing with the demo versions in prepping to migrate to it. What a frekin' disaster! The system blew up my songs database - something that I had been working on for almost a year! With that, I discovered StationPlaylist Pro and never looked back. It too allows for remote voicetracking and at under $500 is a steal of a deal. And before you ask, yes, I wrote the Radio World review for that, too http://www.rwonline.com/article/5210. You may wish to make note of the last line in the review.

I am using DJB at a group of stations now. I installed Enco, Audiovault, Smartcaster, RDS Phantom, 4 versions of Digilink, Tim Valley's Audisk (the first Indiana station to go automated without carts or rells), and others.

The challenge in today's world : No one has excellent telephone support or waits on your every need like you want. No one. I spent hours on the phone many times with Enco who we were paying THOUSANDS a year for support. I liked the product don't get me wrong. Don't buy a sustem if you expect it to work perfect all the time because people use it, make changes, and stuff happens. As the economy downward spirals DJB's support when compared to all others seems to be a better value.

DJB has items many don't Internet VT was one. I don't know of anyone who offers this.Scheduling is one of the BIG ones. mixing multiple audio files and allowing them to segue. If you are non commercial pay RCS 100 a month and then compare this value. Many of the problems I run in to can be fixed without support. I still pay the yearly support however. You get other add ons which are useful.

I did an upgrade recently that failed and I discovered I had the wrong support number. I was able to fix the problem by reverting to an earlier version of DJB via microsoft. any time I talk with jim he is always helpful and even keeled.

I don't have as many failures as I have had with other systems. Email me with any current questions. I ahve learned many of the ups and downs.
