Anyone using the Comet 5/8 antenna?

yes.

But at 10mw you need to put your tx in a weather proof box right at the antenna. the 100mw one can have about 50ft of rg 8 beetween it and the antenna and still do good.

But beware even at 10mw with 100ft of coax between tx and antenna you'll still be over part 15 limits for FM.

As a note chances of getting busted at that power level is nill. If you do get attention you'll probably just be asked to turn it off and not to do it again.

Hey, maybe I should get the 100mW unit then. I see that it can switch between 10mW & 100mW now - then I can play between the power settings. Wasn't the case when I bought my 10mW

Thanks

I'm curious, how many broadcasters have been busted for power levels of 10mw or 100mw or for that matter 1 watt of power on the FM band? Most of the FCC busts are for power levels of 5 watts and up or serious power levels, but as you see 100 watts in Olympia, WA. is doing OK, and snubbing it's nose at the FCC... so really how many people on this board can attest to any bust or the FCC asking the accused to lower or turn off it's transmitter?

I'd keep my money, go buy some twin lead tv antenna lead and make a slim jim for the particular freq. it's tuned quite easily and can be placed in a pvc radome, plus you'll have the same gain.
My FM transmits at 100.1 and the antenna is only 5-1/2' tall and it's a beautiful looking antenna, it's at 50 foot height and I get some pretty nice range, won't say to avoid skeptics, etc.

The antenna works just fine. Make sure you follow the tuning instructions carefully since 10Mw can easily be wasted in a mismatch.
