Anyone with Broadcasting Yearbooks 1971-1974?

Please look up for me a station on 104.9 in Belvedere, Ill. (Rockford market) I'd like to know any info I can about that station before it burned down.

It came back on the air in 1976 as WYBR.

Like Greg, I would love to find some old info on a station for a tribute site I manage. If anybody as any "dirt old" references that can help that would be great. Also look for suggestions on where I might be able to look up info on a station from back in the 60's outside of local newspapers.

Excellent! That's just what I wanted. Thanks so much!

I wonder what this line means?--- Fr: 4 hours weekly

Farm programming?
French?
"Frosty the Snowman"?
Frustration?
:D

Kind Regards,
David

I think it means four hours of specialty programming / week.

I would guess Fr. stands for French -- perhaps a recorded public affairs program from Radio France. Remember, back in 1971, all stations had to carry a minimum schedule of non-entertainment programming and would often subscribe to international syndicated offers to meet this requirement.

Greg, do you know the particulars of how the station burned down?

As I recall, someone told me it was a transmitter fire. The transmitter was in the basement of the studio building, and a fire down there gutted the whole place. (RCA? LOL, it was only 3 KW though) That's pretty much all I know.
