Anything But Talk Radio Post...

This post is about ANYTHING Boston-radio-related BESIDES talk radio. There's been a LOT of talk of talk lately on this board. Random thoughts on other formats, stations, jocks, music... bring on the tangents!

[by the way - this is not a knock on talk radio - just looking for other some variety]

you could start up the old AAf isn't a boston station argument again

I don't mind seeing the talk posts but sometimes I think it's a substitution for actually calling the show. Like talking about someone in the room but pretending he's not there. Old issues never die. They just get reborn with different handles on message boards.

Re: Anything But Talk Radio Post...MIKE FM

Actually, the MIKE FM thing is an amazing chronicle. Methinks that's probably the #1 topic on this board in the last 2 months. It seems that way.

OK. Soooooooooo...what's Dale Dorman up to these days?

I like listening to him in the morning. He still manages to preserve some of that genuine fun and spontaniety that goes back to the style of DJ's in the 1960's AM Top 40 radio heyday.

He starts every Friday morning with "Friday On My Mind" by The Easybeats (not in WODS's regular rotation), and you can always hear him pump the fader on the little four-beat vamp going from the first verse into the first chorus.

The second song on Fridays is always "Evil Woman" by ELO, and he and then his three co-hosts (June Knight, Jimmy DelPonte, Mauzy Stafford) all improvise one ad-libbed line each in that order, sung to the tune of the decending piano riff which repeats four times at the intro of the song.
