Well, Jacksonville has a new FM on the way. Class A on 236, 2.45kW @ 160.4 meters. Brought to you by Tomlinson-Leis, it'll have a nice coverage area of Rusk, Frankston, Neches, Whitehouse, and of course, Jacksonville. Tyler will take a good radio for reception.
Chuck is on the hunt for an FM translator for KEBE, too. Hopefully, the open window affords him a chance to jump in.
Up the road a bit, a new class A @ Cuney has piqued my interest. This one, for channel 259 (2kW @ 176m HAAT), is an application sent in by New Wavo Communications of Willis Texas. New Wavo is owned by Huntsville businessman Ben Amato and operates co-channel KVST Willis, which itself has a CP in place to move everything including the COL up 45 to Huntsville while remaining on 259. The peculiar part is that if these two will be in simulcast with one another, to give K-Star a whopping coverage area, then those around Crockett are going to be left out in the dark. There will be a big hole between the two, which makes me wonder what the ultimate plan is for the Cuney allocation. Will a translator be moved in between the two, joining the 99-7 facilities?
Should be an interesting year in East Texas radio...
