The news I've heard from arbitron is that the top 50 markets will all eventually have PPM.
Markets 50 through 100 with have a combination of PPM and diaries and
the remaining markets will strictly be diary based.
I assume they have decided that the cost prohibits against going PPM everywhere.
But that is unfortunate since most of the major radio company's revenue is coming
from small to midsized markets and the large markets are getting their asses handed to them.
Haven't heard anything about format flips.
From the recent ratings, it's look like things will settle down in the QC for a while.
Although it would be nice to have an active/modern rock station on a 50kw or 100kw stick in the Q.C.
I think the group owners don't want to invest in that.
I am hearing that Cumulus is updating their stations to a new operating system called Op/X
or something. So if anyone remembers back when they first installed their Scott systems, it
should be fun radio pretty soon to hear all the technical hiccups!
