AOL Radio powered by CBS Radio

So, whats the verdict on their stations? Anyone like it, love it, hate it, just okay with it? lol.

With the release of the AOL Radio application for the iPhone, it's now possible to listen to most of the "local" CBS stations wherever you are. That means you can have the iPhone docked on your car's dashboard and listen to say Live 105 from San Francisco while driving around Tampa. Of course it is still traditional terrestrial radio and their are better options online. But all in all it's cool you can "DX" these stations now by using the internet and tools such as cell phones.

I like it, the slickest interface of the iPhone players available so far. And to be able to listen to legendary stations in other parts of the country is great.

Another good thing is it will adjust the stream rate to the available datarate, on Edge you get a lower quality stream, on WiFi & 3G you get a high-quality stereo stream with audio better than satellite radio.

But as I mentioned in another thread "Tuner" ($5.99) gets my vote for favorite because of the sheer variety of streams available, plus being able to enter more streams if you have the address.

Its ok. The one thing I don't care for is they don't have a sign in so you can set your presets fwhile on a public computer. Some of the stations are good but I still miss the XM 70s with Casey Kasem since on XM they played the 1979 year sometimes. :)

I'm listening to WPHT 1210 Philadelphia on Winamp (Dover, DE) as I type this and it sounds good. Far better than any AM-IBOC sample I've downloaded. And I can hear CBS stations from anywhere AND their HD-2 streams too (I love KROQ-2's 80s format). It's also interesting how WPHT (AM talk) and KFWB (AM news) has stereo content.

Verdict: CBS on AOL is excellent. 8)

I agree CBS on AOL sounds clean ,with the "play it" player yes I miss at40 on aol , but Casey sold me xm subscription until xm drops at40 then I will drop xm.btw some cbs terrestrials on aol stream Premiere's at40 70.s 80's.my presets some times go out of whack.I dont know why.

Just to reiterate: KROQ in Los Angeles invented New Wave 80s rock and their format is completely recreated on their internet stream, and over the air in my car on KROQ-HD2. If you like this format, don't miss it!
