Trying to find a decent list of all of the AOR tracks that were playout on AOR radio from the 60's to the 90's. Anyone know where one can find a list like this?

Thanks

Well, before the mid-ish 70s most AORs let the jocks play pretty much what they wanted including lots and lots of clunkers no one remembers.

I've been out of the biz for a few years now, but I'm pretty sure Mediabase still exists, and tabulates the 1000 most-played songs in any format. Maybe you can make friends with someone at a local station that subscribes who will let you look at the classic rock list.

Another thought would be to research the year-end issues of Billboard where they list the top 100 songs of each format for the year. Anything significant should be on that list. I'm not sure when Billboard started publishing an album rock list though.

There's a paper trail for Top 40 in the surveys many of them published and distributed. I'm not aware of anything similar for progressive/AOR. The audience probably would have thought doing that would be blasphemy.

You might check out two books from Joel Whitburn's Record Research.
Rock Tracks 1981-2002 and Album Cuts 1955-2001. Billboard started
the Rock Tracks chart in 1981 but this book has a special section
on "Classic Rock" tracks from 1964-1981. The other book lists tracks
from every album on Billboard's Pop Album charts so there might be
some overlap, but you never know. These are the only publications
I know of that have the type of information that may help you. You
can go to Whitburn's website at www.recordresearch.com for more info.
