Apex Broadcasting gets CP for new station in Tuscaloosa

Just came across this in the daily digest. Looks like Apex Broadcasting has won a CP for a new station in Tuscaloosa.

The tower site in the CP is the old WLXY site off Romulus Road. The frequency of 105.1 MHz is already in use as a translator for WTBC AM 1230 from the old WDBB site off Jug Factory Road.

Now if I remember correctly, Apex had several stations in Tuscaloosa at one time, but sold out to Cumulus. Could this be a reentry to the market, or just a leftover application from before the sale?

It's not a big powerful station (just 2.6 kW @ 506 feet) and it's short spaced to WAGR in Columbus, but it looks like it would at least cover Tuscaloosa proper.

Dean and Houston Pearce have everything under control. These gentlemen are great broadcasters and their stations are always top notch. Some of the best processed stations in the country..

Judging by the date of the signatures on the app, this isn't a leftover. Also if you look in the exhibits, it clearly says that Apex currently holds no broadcasting licenses in Alabama. Looks like Apex just might be returning to T-town.
