Aphex 230 VS Aircorp 500 PH OR 500TV

anyone using the Aphex 230? looking at something for a 2nd prod room.using a Aircorp 500PH in prod room 1 and have been extremely pleased with it.A vendor is trying to Hook me on the Aphex, but i'm still leaning toward the Aircorp.
 
I know Jeff Laurence speaks highly of the AirCorp stuff, but not terribly highly of the Aphex box. As a recall, he thought the preamp was a bit harsh and the gate was a little stiff. What I've heard of the Aphex didn't thrill me either. It sounded very "radio" to me, rather than clean and natural.

Around that same price range, is the Focusrite Voicemaster Pro, which I use. I don't think it will take the abuse that the AirCorp will, but I love the sound. Great preamp, great compressor and expander. The EQ isn't very well featured, but what's there sounds great too. Something to consider if you keep your rack caged off from drifting fingers.
