Aphex 250 Aural Exciter Type III and Optimod 8200

Hello there!

Quick question for you all. I use a Optimod 8200 with Orban 222a. I am overall happy with how they measure up to the newer optimod sound of the 8400 and 8500. I am intertested in buying a Aphex 250 Aural Exciter Type III to add some detail in sound lost in the processing process. Has anyone used the 8200 and Aphex 250 Aural Exciter Type III before and what was your opinion please? The format in adult hot ac. If you feel there is another add on type box out there thats works well with the 8200 please let me know. Thanks in advance to you all.

I've used an aural exciter on an FM Oldies format. Just a small amount can help.
I don't see it being beneficial palying more modern music.

The best chain I've ever been involved with was a Aphex Studio Dominator into an Orban 8200 with the agc disengaged. It was mostly just limiting. It was really smooth, consistent, and listenable.

With the way today CDs are crushed, even older artists' reissues, compression is not your friend.

Dynamic range? Dynamic range? We don't need no stinking Dynamic range! These cats who master CD's now days have no idea what a soft passage is. It is getting harder and harder to process this crap without distortion. Aphex aural exciters are great for bringing back the "luster" of old recordings, and work good for analog sources, but, for the newer stuff less is more. I agree with Surfdude. The general agreement in the industry is that MP3's are audiophile quality and have convinced the american public that it is the best! ANALOG FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

I have an old studio Dominator (700) in front of a DSP-Mini at a CHR on Long Island. Sounds pretty good.... You can drive the Dominator 700 hard with a medium to slow release and it does a good job.
