Aphex/Optimod/Omnia/Sound Solution/

Is it possible to manipulate any of the standard FM processors to sound like
the default setting for the WinAmp Sound Solution plug-in? To even come close?

Just curious...

Sure

Just turn off the AGC, use lots of clipping.

Sure. Mangle the settings by closing your eyes and turning knobs, then max out the clipper and overdrive.<P ID="signature">______________

Actually you're not. Beleive it or not I come across sound solution on ebay by searching for an optimod. I use it with winamp and a pretty desent sound card and havent had any problems. The guy that sells the package has about 50 presets for it, and several other plug ins such as an input plugin so you can process audio from an external source. It was like 5 or 6 dollars and I am very pleased with it. I've though about purchasing a rack mounted pc along with an audio science sound card and using is just for a processor. The only thing I've notice is on the input plugin there is a little delay, so live monitoring could be a problem. But for the quality I've gotten with the presets and minor adjustments its beats spending mega bucks when the budget is tight enough already.
