Apologies to WCRS 98.3 listeners

I understand from our chief engineer that our receiver was stolen about a week ago at the 98.3FM tower site, and so we've been running on a backup receiver that isn't as good at rejecting interference. The broadcast on 98.3 varies widely from almost normal (with some clipping, though) to complete interference which results in our signal not being heard at all, which generally occurs at night.
A replacement has been ordered that should be arriving next week and will be immediately installed. Until then, our 102.1 signal is fully functional for those within its range, and of course the stream through www.wcrsfm.org is available.

and on the same subject, for the listeners of WCRX, which has been removed from the 98.3 translator signal, equipment has been ordered for a new streaming server, to be installed in the near future, so If you're missing that programming, an alternative will be available, soon!

One thing I have yet to understand about 102.1 and 98.3... how can a license be allowed to run hours at a time with dead air .. seems like a waste of the public airwaves to broadcast slience various hours of the day. I know both LP's have hours of licensed ops from the shared frequency but I would think when there is no programming they would drop carrier and not broadcast silence.

There is currently a dispute between the two time share partners about how the remaining time should be divided, and how it has been divided thus far. There were originally five timeshare partners, now it's down to two, Although procedurally, this matter could be solved in seconds, so far it has taken years, and hopefully should be worked out soon.

I don't think either side likes the dead air, and it certainly doesn't help either side or the station in general.

Oh, I misread your message...there should not be carrier, and dead air....that should not be happening...

<I just checked the carrier, it is off, btw>, I'll PM you for further details, thanks
