Appreciation And An Accomplishment

Let me just say, that it was a true honor to make my first appearance at the DJ Expo yesterday.  Sadly, it was for one day only, but within that one day, I seen how much the industry has grown and how much loyalty everyone has for this business.  From viewing how fast technology changes to entertain the people at the exhibit hall, to how much I learned from the seminars and panels, especially the event director seminar and the artist panel.  It was great meeting John Parker, Cary Vance, and Jim from Promo Only.  It was an honor to meet and greet with today's artists such as Alexis Jordan, Jessica Jarell, Chris Willis, Kaci Battaglia, Blake Lewis, Chris K, Lilian Garcia from WWE, and many others who performed at the Promo Only Summer Sessions at the House of Blues.  I also want to thank Tony Santiago, for believing in dance music, and keeping his dedication and time to make dance music known for over 16 years with the NY Dance Music Coalition, in which I am a proud member of.  The biggest thanks is to all of you, the fans, the supporters, and the idols who inspired me to be part of the network.  What really inspired me the most that night, was to see one of my idols, Judy Torres, win the artist achievement award, and no doubt, she truly deserved it.  That showed how much effort, time, sweat, tears, and passion can pay off in the end.

Speaking of achievement, I would like to announce that as of today, my internet stream 96.7 Party, is officially listed in the RadioTime network.  Yes, it is a small operation, and is basically just a dance version of a JackFM, but for the 5 years, including the hiatus periods, all the dedication and the time spent in this project has paid off, and it is a huge accomplishment in my end to let dance music grow, to "fill a format hole" in my area, and have another source for dance music artists and DJ's to be heard.  Thank you all once again for the support and for allowing me to be in the network.

WOW! I am touched! :'( (it's actually a happy tear)

It's people like you and everyone here that keeps me going with our movement! If there is anything that I've "taken home" from the experience in Atlantic City, it's that things ARE looking up for dance music! It's one thing in the past conventions when you have our RUNS (aka: our "Big 4") dance music labels show up (Robbins, Ultra, Nervous and Strictly Rhythm). It's a whole other thing when the MAJOR labels also attended the convention this year and felt that positivity going on as well (Capitol, Interscope, Columbia, Island/Def Jam).

I do see bigger and better things going on for us in the future and when Lady Gaga DOMINATES this year's VMA, we may just see that same impact for our music as when Madonna caused such an influence over 25 years ago :).

Sam, much congratulations on 96.7 Party! I know you've busted your tail with this and announcing alongside you this year for the yearly Megatraxxx was indeed an honor for me! :) Here's hoping much success to you as well as much listenership along the way! :) Things are looking up for us and it makes me more proud than ever to be a dance music fan as well as having a love for our "brothers and sisters" in the industry as well :) You're a good guy Sam, so I want to see you succeed in this.

Vic Latino said it best at one of the panel discussions.....parents and people must have thought of us as "crazy" for getting involved into such an industry. I know my parents did and I "fell in", lol :) I'm just a fan first and foremost, I didn't seek to get into the industry, lol; it just happened! :) But the deep rooted love and passion for our music is what everyone in the room as well as those that have attended the DJ Expo and concerts/events have in common. It's that spirit that keeps us waving the flag, supporting our music in whatever fashion possible. And if that makes me "crazy", then I am one of the biggest lunatics out there! :) I love and treasure all of the friendships that I have made over the past couple of years (artists, DJ's, fans, labels, promoters, you name it). This "fire" for dance music will always stay in me and will end on my last day on Earth.

Thank you!
